Tristan headed upstairs and pushed open the door to the master bedroom where Nova had stayed.

The side cabinet was locked. Respecting her privacy—and lacking any desire to snoop—he merely picked up a stack of documents resting on the desk.

They were highly technical materials and textbooks, covered in meticulous, detailed annotations. It was clear she was deeply dedicated to her studies, absorbing every minor detail.

"Has she been staying here every night lately?" he asked the maid hovering by the door.

This was a new household staff, handpicked by him after the previous incidents.

"Yes, sir. But she hasn't been sleeping well. She frequently wakes up in a panic from nightmares. Sometimes she cries out for you, and sometimes she wakes up sobbing for her mother. Her appetite has been poor, too. Occasionally, she'll wake up in the middle of the night just to stare out the window, hoping to see if you've come home. She really misses you, sir," the maid answered honestly.

She then added softly, "She loves you very much."

A heavy silence lingered before Tristan finally murmured, "I see."

He set the documents back down, saying nothing more.

"Should we try calling her again, sir? We can keep trying throughout the day," the maid offered.

Tristan paused for a beat. "There's no need. When she's ready to come back, she'll show her face."

It took her several long moments to process what had happened.
