"What are you doing here?" Yvette, wearing a bathrobe and drying her hair, looked up and saw Nova. She looked mildly surprised.
When her gaze landed on the box of condoms in Nova's hand, she spoke with shameless candor.
"Oh, I'm quite busy with work, and I simply can't accept my body going out of shape from pregnancy. Compared to loving a man, I think a woman should prioritize her career and herself, so I'm not considering having kids. You have to love yourself before anyone else can love you, right?"
She paused, her eyes flickering to Nova's stomach. "I heard about what happened today. Since I'll be joining CN Dynamics soon, Tristan gave it to me as a congratulatory gift. Don't worry about the compensation; I'll talk to him and tell him not to be so hard on a pregnant woman. Rest assured, Tristan listens to everything I say."
Nova watched as Yvette, acting every bit the lady of the house, took the opened box of condoms from her hand without a shred of embarrassment.
It didn't take a genius to figure out who she was using them with.
But Nova truly hadn't expected that in the short time she'd been gone, Tristan would move Yvette right in—into the very room that used to be their marital bedroom...
Looking at the rumpled sheets and listening to Yvette stake her claim, Nova felt a wave of nausea.
Yvette wasn't finished.
"If you're interested in research, I can recommend you for a spot at CN Dynamics after you have your baby. You can be my assistant, and I'll mentor you. Research isn't like brewing coffee or cooking dinner; it requires real intellect and the barrier to entry is high. If you try to study on your own, you'll never make a splash. Women supporting women, right?"
Hearing that corporate feminist catchphrase spill from Yvette's lips felt like a sick joke to Nova.
She suddenly remembered the video of Yasmin trashing her apartment. After tearing up those documents, Yasmin had snapped a photo and sent it to a group chat.
The security footage hadn't been incredibly clear.
But looking at it now, she had undoubtedly sent it to Yvette and her circle.
"I have no idea where a homewrecker like you gets the nerve to stand in front of me and spew this garbage."
Yvette's expression stiffened. Finally, she offered a helpless, condescending smile, turning around as if being the bigger person.
"Where is the black box I left here?" Nova demanded coldly.
Yvette had already opened the door. The maid was standing right outside. "Tristan had it thrown out," Yvette answered casually.
But the moment she tried to leave, she was blocked.
The maid's voice echoed tauntingly behind her. "Mr. Forrester's orders are that from this moment until you give birth, you are not allowed to step a single foot out of Clearwater Manor!"
Nova slowly turned her head to glare at the woman.
So... "You did all that on purpose just now?"
She had told her the truth, waited until Nova desperately needed to search, and then blocked her path just to watch her suffer.
Martha smirked, glancing at Yvette, who had re-emerged fully dressed.
"Who do you think you are? Did you think leaving some garbage behind would win you Mr. Forrester's attention? Give it a rest. If it weren't for that lump of flesh in your belly, no one in the Forrester family would even look at you twice! You actually think you're someone important? Ms. Sellers is the love of his life. You're the real mistress here!"
Nova lunged forward, grabbed Martha by the collar, and slapped her hard across the face.
Martha stared back in absolute disbelief. "You hit me? How dare you hit me!"
