Her defiant voice bordered on a scream, causing every servant in Clearwater Manor to stare at her in utter disbelief.
She had always been so cautious, so submissive. This was the first time she had ever dared to act out.
Yet even so, the man's expression only grew colder, his words designed to pierce straight through her heart. "Since it was trash, it belongs exactly where it went."
Nova's vision went black for a split second, her mind entirely blank.
She raised her hand, and without thinking, slapped him hard across the face.
In that instant, the entire world seemed to fall dead silent.
She couldn't see how furious Yvette was, nor could she gauge the murderous rage radiating from Tristan.
All she did was turn around, desperate to run outside and search!
She had to check the dumpsters!
Even though days had passed, and the estate's trash was cleared every three hours...
It was her babies' urn. She had to find it!
But the moment she spun around, the front doors began to shut.
Before she could even process what was happening, the man's ruthless voice echoed behind her. "From this moment until she gives birth, she is not allowed to step half a foot outside those doors."
Nova stood rigidly in place. It felt like an eternity before she slowly turned her head.
Give birth?
She let out a broken laugh.
What baby was there to give birth to?!
Her babies had been killed by his precious 'love' in that car crash!
And their ashes had been tossed out like garbage on his orders!
Locking her up in here—he truly didn't even see her as a human being.
"Let me out!" Nova's lips trembled as she clawed desperately at the doors, fighting against the maids.
"Tristan, you can hate me! You can despise me! Let's just get a divorce! But you've never shown me even a shred of basic respect. If it were Yvette, even if she were a total stranger who left something behind, would you just throw it away without a second thought?"
Her voice was raw, tearing from her throat in a display of sheer agony.
The man paused and looked back at her, his eyes a pool of absolute frost.
The insults continued sporadically. Nova lay there, her fingertips trembling violently.
She didn't know how much time had passed before doctors from Forrester Hospital finally arrived and unlocked the door from the outside.
The door to Tristan's study was directly across from Nova's bedroom.
It was wide open, allowing the arriving doctors a clear view of the man sitting inside, staring expressionlessly at the documents on his desk.
Nova was still lying on the floor. No one had bothered to move or help her, and the man in the study didn't spare her a single glance.
Since they were from Forrester Hospital and Tristan clearly didn't care about her, the doctors naturally weren't going to put in any extra effort.
Even as Nova managed a weak whisper, "My... my stomach hurts."
She was in so much pain that she didn't even care if they discovered the baby was already gone.
But the two male doctors merely exchanged a look.
"Dr. Pearce said to just go through the motions and copy the results from her last checkup. Mr. Forrester doesn't care about her anyway. The kid is completely expendable."
They didn't touch her. They didn't examine her at all.
The door clicked shut. Nova listened as the doctors went across the hall to report to Tristan. "Mrs. Forrester is fine. She was just a bit too emotional and is putting on an act. A little extra attention should do the trick, Mr. Forrester. If she keeps pretending, it might actually stress the baby."
