Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 24

So, they were telling him she was faking everything just to get his attention.

Nova couldn't hear Tristan's reply.

She only heard the sound of footsteps retreating as the doctors took their leave.

Tears spilled down Nova's cheeks, impossible to hold back.

She felt overwhelmingly wronged.

Tristan had sent two male doctors who irresponsibly went through the motions and immediately left.

So this was what it meant to be unloved—to be ignored to the point of utter callousness.

As the pain washed over her in waves, Nova remembered the herbal supplement Samuel had packed in her bag. It was prescribed by a holistic healer he recommended, who told her to take a packet whenever the abdominal cramps hit.

Clutching her stomach, Nova forced herself up. She managed to take the medicine, but it drained the last of her energy, leaving her collapsed on the sofa.

She didn't know how much time had passed. By the time the sky outside turned pitch black and her cramps finally dulled into a numb ache, the door opened.

Tristan stood in the doorway, his gaze sweeping over Nova, who was now sitting calmly on the sofa holding her phone.

"Done playing your little game?"

Nova opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, she merely offered a dismissive smile and slowly pushed herself up. "I want to leave."

The man ignored her demand completely, his eyes shifting away from her bruised fingernails. "Clean yourself up and come downstairs. Abdul is waiting for you. Behave yourself. If you're thinking of trying any more stunts, keep your father and brother in mind."

That single sentence trapped her instantly.

Once upon a time, Nova used to think the old patriarch was a kind man.

Now, looking at Abdul, all she could think about was how much he secretly despised her. He had even plotted to send her child abroad to make room for whatever heir Yvette would eventually produce.

"Abdul," Nova greeted as she approached the patriarch. She didn't call him 'Grandpa' like she used to.

Abdul didn't seem to notice the change, or perhaps he just didn't care. He briefly assessed her pale face and nodded. "The maid told me you've been throwing tantrums about moving out. And now that you're back, you're lashing out at Tristan? You even hit him?"

In his hand was the medical report provided by the Forrester Hospital doctors, which falsely claimed mother and child were perfectly healthy.

Nova remained silent, her gaze shifting to Tristan.

He was sitting on the furthest sofa, staring at his phone screen with a gentleness she had never seen directed at her.

"I'm sure. The child... can stay with the family."

If the baby were still safely in her womb, she would be terrified. She wouldn't be able to walk away so easily. But now? The baby was gone, the ashes tossed out like trash. She had nothing left to lose.

Right now, all she wanted was to sever this marriage.

Seeing how sensible she was being, Abdul nodded in approval. "Very well. The family will provide you with a generous compensation package..."

He paused and looked toward Tristan. "Tristan, what are your thoughts? Tomorrow is a workday. Find some time in your schedule to file the papers. I hear there's a thirty-day mandatory waiting period now, which is quite a hassle. The sooner you file, the sooner we can end this marriage."

At this point, Abdul had thoroughly lost all fondness for Nova.

Nova didn't care anymore, but she instinctively looked over at him.

Her eyes collided with Tristan's dark stare.

He would definitely agree. After all, he loved Yvette so deeply, and Nova was willingly stepping aside. He had absolutely no reason to refuse.

Besides, she had slapped him today.

And she didn't regret it for a second.
