Nova froze for a moment. Seeing Belinda gesturing at her, she quickly relayed the message. "Grandma is asking—"
Before she could even finish her sentence, Tristan had already hung up the phone.
Nova pressed her lips together, keeping her silence, and turned back to Belinda. "He said he'll be another hour."
Belinda sighed deeply. "He's been gone for a month on this business trip. Before he left, he promised me up and down that he would be back early the moment you finished your recovery, and that he'd bring you a gift. Now he's dragging his feet, and it's already so late."
She cast another look at Nova. "Leaving such a gorgeous wife at home and he still doesn't know to hurry back! Have you two been talking on the phone much while he's been away?"
Nova nodded. "Yes, we have."
In reality, other than his initial itinerary update right before he left, they hadn't spoken once in the entire month.
Nova hadn't reached out to him, and naturally, Tristan hadn't reached out to her.
He was busy traveling with Yvette; of course, she wouldn't even cross his mind.
Belinda asked with a smile, "Has he seen how beautiful you look right now?"
Nova had applied light makeup today and was wearing a gorgeous emerald silk dress that Felipa had bought her—one that Tristan had specifically pointed out in the past.
She looked so breathtakingly different that when she first walked in, Belinda hadn't even recognized her until she spoke!
"No, he's been too busy," Nova replied.
Belinda nodded approvingly. "A surprise will be good for him! Let's not wait anymore, let's go ahead and eat."
Nova merely offered a polite smile, not taking the situation to heart at all.
An hour came and went, and there was still no sign of Tristan.
By ten o'clock that night, there was absolutely no word from him.
Belinda grew anxious, but after Nova gently persuaded her, she finally agreed to head to bed.
Nova didn't wait up for him either. She went upstairs, removed her makeup, and stepped into the shower.
As the hot water washed over her, the exhaustion finally set in.
