Outside the door, Nova's knuckles turned white as she gripped the handle.
She didn't hear a response from Tristan. Neither did Chuck.
Chuck sighed, a lazy smile spreading across his face, though his eyes remained locked on Tristan, studying his every micro-expression.
"Yvette is certainly exceptional. She's beautiful, capable, ambitious, and incredibly eager to learn. She's practically a mirror image of you. And for her, you didn't hesitate to burn millions just to clear Nova out of her path. You personally delivered Yvette to Professor Mathew, fully convinced that she'll achieve massive success in the future and generate returns far beyond your initial investment."
Tristan finally looked up. After a few seconds of heavy silence, he asked, "What exactly are you trying to test?"
Chuck chuckled. "I'm just amazed by your devotion to Yvette. You used to say that you'd only ever have one woman in your life—one lifetime, one love, completely devoted. Didn't you? I'm just curious... if Nova hadn't lost the baby, would you still be acting this way?"
"I know exactly what I'm doing, and I know exactly what I want," Tristan replied, standing up without giving a direct answer.
That was all Nova needed to hear. She understood perfectly.
Even if their child were still alive, he would still follow his own desires and chase exactly what he wanted.
Chuck laughed easily. "Alright, alright, I'll stop teasing you. We all know how much you cherish her. Buying her a one-of-a-kind auction ring, gifting her real estate... I even heard you bought the Crestview Villa for the Sellers family? Are you that worried Yvette's father won't approve of his perfect future son-in-law?"
Outside, Nova couldn't bear to listen to another word. She turned and walked away.
She never imagined that after giving The Heartland away, Tristan would go so far as to buy the Crestview Villa to compensate Yvette. His love was so profound it extended to protecting her entire family.
They always said a parent's love meant planning for their child's long-term future.
But Tristan's love for Yvette clearly defied all conventional logic. For her, he didn't care if he lost everything in the divorce.
If she wasn't the one trapped in this mess—and if Yvette wasn't playing the shameful role of the other woman—Nova would have almost wanted to applaud the star-crossed lovers.
When Chuck finally left the office, he caught sight of Nova sitting at her desk, shaking her head with a self-deprecating smile before diving into her work.
Thinking back to how she had just asked about the Divorce Agreement, he realized she likely didn't *want* Tristan to sign it, which was why she brought it up so defensively.
Chuck sighed inwardly.
