Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 39

"Fine," Samuel agreed without a second's hesitation.

Nova stiffened in surprise.

Then, she watched as Samuel held out his phone. "Here is my junior colleague's contact. Send her a request. Whether or not you can convince her to talk is entirely up to your own capabilities, Mr. Forrester."

Yvette sat snugly beside Tristan, her eyes practically dripping with adoration.

Watching them, Nova felt a heavy suffocating sensation in her chest, though the agonizing, heart-shredding pain from before was thankfully gone.

She was finally starting to move on.

Just as Nova turned to slip away, Professor Mathew suddenly called out to her.

"This young lady looks very pleasant. She has a real affinity about her, and I noticed how efficient she was earlier. Mr. Forrester, would you be willing to part with her?"

Tristan's gaze instantly locked onto Nova.

Nova finally understood why Samuel had texted her earlier, telling her not to leave the venue just yet.

Her professor hadn't made a public appearance in years, let alone at a wildly pretentious, status-obsessed gala like this.

His entire purpose for being here tonight was purely to "buy her freedom"!

But no one could have anticipated that the person Professor Mathew would publicly demand wasn't the universally acclaimed 'genius of geniuses,' Yvette, but Nova.

Abdul glanced at Nova's stomach. She was still carrying a Forrester heir—how could they let her go work somewhere else?

At least at the Forrester Group, they could keep a close eye on her.

Everyone waited for Nova to graciously decline on her own.

Tristan didn't say a word to defend her.

But this time, Nova remained completely silent, acting as if she were simply waiting for Tristan to give the final word.

Tristan's eyebrow twitched slightly as his cold gaze swept over her again.

*Still throwing a tantrum?*

"I'm afraid that's inappropriate," Tristan said flatly.

"Exactly. She's just an executive assistant. How could she possibly handle the complex demands of working by your side, Professor?" Felipa eagerly chimed in, even though she had absolutely no idea how Nova had even secured the assistant role in the first place.

Tristan remained completely silent.

Sensing an opportunity, Abdul immediately interjected, "The Forresters are businessmen at heart, Professor. Since you've put it that way... if we asked you to make an exception and take our Yvette on as your protégé, would you agree?"

Nova's heart violently clenched.

She knew exactly how much her professor despised Yvette. If he swallowed his pride and accepted that manipulative fraud just to save Nova, she would rather rot at the Forrester Group!

Her professor had already done far too much for her.

She absolutely refused to let these vultures take advantage of him!

"Professor Mathew, you don't need to force yourself to do anything you don't want to do for my sake!" Nova stated loudly.

Her sudden outburst caused the entire table's expressions to instantly darken—how dare she interfere with Yvette's future, the future matriarch of the Forrester family!

Tristan's heavy, imposing gaze settled on Nova. The pressure radiating from him was suffocating, but she couldn't care less.

"If the Professor enjoys my company, I would be more than happy to visit you often in my free time to chat."
