Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 45

"Samuel, Tristan just told me to go to Forrester Hospital for a checkup and send the results to the Estate."

Samuel had just been marveling at how smoothly her leave was approved.

Hearing this, he couldn't help but frown.

Nova said, "It's fine. I'll just go."

Seeing her composure, Samuel hesitated but decided to accompany her anyway.

He was worried about how she would handle the scrutiny of a medical exam.

To his shock, the moment they walked in and the staff heard her name, they rolled their eyes. A nurse scribbled something on a slip and handed over the test results—without a single physical examination being performed.

Even though this was exactly the outcome Samuel wanted, seeing them treat Nova with such blatant disrespect made his blood boil.

Nova, however, was past caring. She even comforted Samuel. "Because Tristan disregards me and dislikes me, everyone associated with the Forrester Group treats me like dirt. In the past, this would have wrecked me. I would have agonized over it, lost sleep, and cried under my covers. But not anymore. Right now, this negligence is actually a blessing."

Tristan, and perhaps the entire Forrester family, likely planned to use her child as a biological 'spare parts' reserve—an organ bank for whatever future children Tristan and Yvette might have. If they found out she had lost the baby, they would undoubtedly direct their vengeance toward her father and brother.

Hearing Nova voice this dark suspicion gave Samuel a stress headache.

"I've heard rumors about this before," Samuel muttered. "Some elite families keep illegitimate children around strictly as an organ bank... as spare parts. Tristan is... completely ruthless!"

If Tristan was so insistent on her getting regular checkups, it certainly wasn't out of any genuine excitement for the child's arrival.

Nova couldn't find it in herself to be sad anymore.

She offered Samuel a faint smile. "It's okay. My babies must have known what kind of father was waiting for them, which is why they escaped. They went back to heaven to pick better parents."

Samuel glanced at Nova's flat stomach and remained silent.

Nova stared at the tiny, filthy rental unit. Pushing open the innermost door, she found her father lying there, utterly stripped of his dignity.

"N-Nova... you came?" Lawrence's voice trembled at the sight of his daughter.

Her once elegant, meticulously clean father, now reduced to this...

Choking back her sorrow, Nova hired a cleaner to scrub the room spotless. Samuel went out to buy hot food, leaving father and daughter alone, and stepped outside to handle some arrangements.

Nova fed Lawrence bite by bite until he finally spoke, his voice heavy with guilt. "I've been such a burden to you. I didn't want to tell you, but I saw the news online and I was worried. And I figured... if I don't tell you now, I might die in this room without ever seeing you again."

Nova's eyes went red. "Dad, what exactly happened? Weren't you at the Forrester Wellness Retreat? Whenever I called, you said you were doing great! How did you end up here? You can't even move properly, and there's no one here to take care of you!"

Seeing his daughter's emotional state, Lawrence hesitated, lowering his head.

"In my second month at the retreat, a man named Preston Sellers came in for care. His wife accidentally knocked over a water glass, spilling it on him, but she blamed it on me. After that, I was thrown out. They said... it was Mr. Forrester's order."
