Nova turned to see Chuck Clayton approaching with a cold expression.
Kieran immediately blocked Nova from leaving and recounted the entire situation to Chuck.
Chuck looked at Nova and asked in an eerily calm voice, "Ms. Clarke, you married Tristan, but does he love you? You're pregnant with his child, but does he care about you? Do you honestly think these petty, vindictive tricks against Yvette will make him love you? Or do you think anyone in our circle will ever respect you?"
This time, Yvette didn't say a word.
She, too, looked down on Nova entirely.
To do something so small-minded purely out of jealousy, and to be so utterly shameless when caught that she just tried to walk away.
It was incredibly low-class.
Losing her entire sense of self just to fight over a man, going rabid and attacking other women!
Nova stared at the three of them.
If it weren't for Tristan's cold indifference and tacit permission, his best friends and his precious lover would never dare to treat her like dirt, openly ganging up on a "pregnant" woman.
Too exhausted to waste breath explaining herself to these people, she simply said, "I have already resi—"
'Resigned.' She didn't even get to finish the word before Chuck coldly cut her off.
"You're fired! Since you clearly don't want to work, pack your things and get out of the company. As for the financial damage caused by your little tantrum today, the legal department will be in touch with you!"
The rest of Nova's sentence died on her tongue, and suddenly, she laughed out loud.
Seeing her reaction, Chuck assumed she was questioning his authority. "Tristan handed full control of this project and personnel over to me. I have more than enough authority to fire a manipulative schemer like you."
Beside him, Kieran watched Nova with the smug look of someone enjoying a show.
Even Yvette looked at her with icy disdain.
Still laughing, Nova replied, "Well then, thank you!"
Without another word, she turned and walked toward the exit.
Yvette offered a modest smile.
Chuck then turned to the restaurant manager. "Go stop that woman who just left and drag her back here!"
There was no way he was letting Nova leave.
He had purposely made sure she was summoned here today so she could see the massive gap between herself and Yvette. He wanted to make her feel so utterly inferior that she'd finally realize she wasn't fit to even compete with Yvette!
Nova had just reached her car and was about to open the door when the manager rushed over, blocking her path and aggressively barking, "You're coming inside with us!"
Inside the car, Belinda was already growing anxious about how long Nova was taking. Hearing the commotion, she frowned and peered through the window.
Who the hell did this guy think he was, speaking to the mistress of the Forrester family like that?!
Nova looked at him coolly. "Since when does a restaurant manager have law enforcement authority?"
The manager sneered. "We suspect you stole something from the Regent's Spire. We need you to come inside and cooperate with a search. Got a problem with that?"
