Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11 Send Away the Ring

Margo called, saying Brianna’s resignation had been approved, and she needed to swing by the company to sign off on it. It’d been almost a month since she’d quit. Brianna thought, Why are they bringing this up now?

Baffled, she considered asking her to have Brandon deal with it, but then recalled that he never bothered with her stuff anyway. No point in stirring up more aggravation.

She drove over to the company and went straight to HR, only to learn the paperwork was in Margo’s office. She’d have to sign it there.

Brianna got a bad vibe. Margo was clearly plotting something shady.

Up on the 26th floor, the executive offices stretched out with only a few rooms, sweeping views, topnotch spot, spacious and peaceful.

But to Brianna, it all felt stark and chilly. Sunlight streamed through the huge glass windows, blanketing every inch, yet it didn’t warm things up at all.

Brandon’s office was at the very end, flanked by the secretary’s space, with Margo’s VP office next in line.

She got to the door and saw it was ajar, but empty inside.

Perfect, she could knock out the resignation stuff and then hash out the divorce with him. Since she’d moved out, they hadn’t had a single private moment, and the topic had never gotten a real airing.

With that thought, Brianna made her way to the president’s office.

The secretary knew her and didn’t intervene, just rapped on the door, caught the come infrom within, and let her through.

Brandon was sprawled in his chair like some laidback aristocrat, radiating entitlement, elbow on the armrest, fingers grazing his cheek.

A woman sat across from him.

Brianna figured it was workrelated and headed to the guest sofa without a peep, plopping down.

Then the woman rose, turned, and said, Brianna.

Brianna went rigid. She thought, What is she doing here?’

Brianna, don’t jump to conclusions. I’m just here to ask Brandon for a little help.Darcy always acted scared around her, forever shrinking and timid.

Brianna squinted at Brandon, her heart clenching. He despised blending personal matters with business.

His office had been her nogo zone. In three years with the group, her visits there were few enough to count on one hand. He didn’t even give his relative a break. But apparently, Darcy was special.

With Brianna staying mum, Darcy pressed on with her explanation. Brianna, our dance troupe is planning a performance. Im honestly just here for his assistance.

Brianna tuned her out, fury simmering in her chest. The sight of him lounging there so nonchalantly only stoked the flames. Then she spotted the necklace dangling from Darcy’s neck, and her blood boiled over.

She stepped closer.

Forcing herself to stay composed, she extended her hand toward Darcy. Give the necklace back.

Darcy looked deeply hurt, her hands clutching the chain at her throat protectively. This was a gift from Mom and Dad.

She cast a desperate look at Brandon, tears pooling in her eyes. Brianna, if you like it that much, I’ll have them get you one too, alright?

Brianna scoffed coldly, shaking her head as she took in the charade. Cut the act. We both know that’s my mother’s gemstone!

She was battling to hold it together. She was this close to exploding.

Darcy’s mouth dropped open in feigned shock, her expression a mix of remorse and embarrassment. Brianna, is that for real? But

Done with the backandforth, Brianna’s voice turned frigid. Hand over the gem!

Brandon furrowed his brow, got up, and circled his desk to stand between the two women, his tone sharp and frosty. Have you caused enough drama?

Chapter 11 Send Away the Ring

Brianne thought, Drama? So in his view, every move I make is just a petty outburst?

in a surge of defiance, she fired back at him. What’s wrong with reclaiming what belonged to my mother?

Her state only ramped up his annoyance.

Spotting the tension between him and Brianna, Darcy dabbed at her shimmering tears and offered a conciliatory smile. ” Brianna, I had no clue if this was Trina’s necklace, but you want it, it’s yours.”

With that, Darcy undid the clasp and passed it over.

She appeared utterly victimized, yet still going out of her way to appease Brianna. Anyone watching would feel a pang of sympathy

Brianna, choking back tears, snatched the offered necklace in a fit of anger, yanked off the yellow gemstone with a sharp tug, and hurled the chain back at Darcy.

Brianna said, Go tell that cheating scum that for every single piece of my mom’s jewelry they took, I’ll make them cough it up one by one.

Brandon stood by in silence, but the look he shot Brianna was pure fury.

With that, she whirled around, face contorted with rage, and stormed out, slamming the door with a thunderous bang.

The second she was outside, the tears came pouring down. She swiped at them as she rushed away, her back straight and unyielding.

Back in the office, Darcy buried her face in her hands and wailed theatrically.

Brandon handed her a tissue. Quick as a flash, she latched onto his hand, gazing up at him with her tearsoaked face.

She said, Brandon, what will it take for Brianna to forgive me? Does she need me to drop dead before she’ll let it go?

The sight of Darcy bawling like that threw Brandon off balance.

He gave her shoulder a gentle pat, soothing her softly. Don’t talk nonsense about dying, kids and their wild ideas. This ones on your sister. I’ll get you a new necklace to make up for it.

In an instant, her tears gave way to a bright smile, all innocent and bubbly like a child’s. Brandon, you’re the greatest!

As Darcy stepped out of Brandon’s office, a triumphant smirk crept across her face.

She’d meant to use work as a pretext to see him more often and build some rapport, but stirring up drama in their marriage, and even injecting a touch of flirtation into her dynamic with him? That was an unexpected win.

Lost in her gloating, she missed the pair of eyes observing the entire spectacle, sparkling with wry amusement.

That evening at the Levy family estate, Brianna showed up late.

Kendra caught sight of Brianna and launched herself into her arms, pouting playfully about why she’d taken so long. Brandon was parked next to Josefina, halflistening to her ramble. He registered Brianna’s arrival but didn’t bother glancing her way.

Josefina waved her over to sit on her other side, clasped her hand, and inquired about Caroline and Mitch.

Brianna replied.

Well, that’s a relief. Mitch’s free now, and Caroline can finally kick back in her later years.
