Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 159

Chapter 159 Tristan Arrived at Horizon Group

Tristan pushed open the office door, his steps light, yet his presence was felt even in silence.

Sunlight slanted in through the window, casting a warm glow over Brianna.

She was bent over her desk, completely absorbed in sketching a design, her brow slightly furrowed, her expression so focused it was like she was pouring her soul into every stroke.

She wanted to create a collection for her daughter, not just something beautiful, but something powerful, a force that could cut through darkness and brighten her childhood.

She wanted to tell her daughter that even when the world feels gloomy, she should learn to be her own light

Her long hair was loosely twisted up with a pencil, a few wisps falling by her ears, making her look soft and captivating even in her natural state.

The sunlight bathed her shoulders in a gentle halo, quiet, steadfast, and almost sacred.

Tristan stood in the doorway, his breath hitching as a tide of emotion welled up in his eyes, but he pushed it back with sheer will.

Brianna, sensing something, looked up and locked eyes with him.

She paused, a gentle, restrained smile blooming on her lips, like the first ripples on a tranquil spring pond.

“What brings you here?” she asked.

Tristan lowered his eyes, masking that brief moment of panic. He wore his signature roguish smirk, hands shoved in his pockets, and sauntered in, settling himself across from her.

“Just seeing if you’d take me in for a while,” he said with a playful grin.

Brianna’s smile froze, her eyes sharpening. “Trouble at home?”

Tristan shrugged, making it sound like it was nothing, but you could still hear the frustration in his voice.

“Yeah, got fired. Now I’m just out of work and wandering around. Ms. Meyers, any openings for a security guard? Or maybe a personal bodyguard? Or a male model, whatever works for you,” he said with a smirk.

“My little place could never handle a big shot like you,” Brianna said with a gentle shake of her head. Her tone was light, but there was still a trace of worry in her eyes.

She got up to pour him some water, her movements gentle, like she was calming down a cranky cat.

“Try to talk things through with your parents. Don’t always butt heads with them,” she said softly.

Tristan let out a cold snort, his eyes darkening. “He’s just a stubborn old man! To him, his reputation matters more than my happiness ever could.”

He was talking about the whole engagement mess.

Half the trouble was Nancy, and the other half was his father. Even his own son was just another chess piece for him to play with.

“If he likes Nancy so much, why doesn’t he just marry her himself!” Tristan gritted his teeth, his voice low but burning with anger.

“Don’t talk nonsense,” Brianna chided softly, her tone gentle but unmistakably serious. “With that attitude, it’s no wonder your dad gets angry.”

She understood perfectly that Tristan’s father insisted he marry Nancy to strengthen connections and secure his future.

But to Tristan, those well-meaning plans felt more like shackles.

She gazed at him, a wave of sadness washing over her heart.

Parents always want what’s best for their children, but who ever asks if the kids want to follow the path that’s been mapped out for them?

“Seriously, my old man actually froze my card,” Tristan said.

He tossed his phone onto the table, the screen still showing that annoying “Suspended” notice from the bank.

His knuckles were white, like he might crush the phone. “All those years of salary, even my year-end bonuses. He just froze everything, just like that.”

Brianna turned her face away, her shoulders shaking as she couldn’t help but let out a soft laugh.

“You never play by the rules. That’s what you get,” she teased.

“Brianna!” Tristan raised his voice, but it softened at the end, sounding almost pouty. “Are you teaming up against me now?”

He lowered his gaze, worry creasing his brow, and Brianna suddenly felt a hollow ache in her chest.

“Giving you a job here? That’s no trouble at all,” she murmured, her fingers absentmindedly tracing the rim of her cup as her voice dropped.

“But your dad’s obviously trying to force you to give in. If I get involved, that means I’m picking a fight with him directly,” she added.

Tristan cocked his head, flashing that lazy, devil-may-care grin. “I’d go all out for you, and what do you do? When it really counts, you stab me twice, right in the heart, no less.”

Brianna was torn between laughing and crying, but a subtle warmth spread through her chest.

“How about this? Forget the job. My card is yours, swipe it whenever you want,” Brianna said with a playful

smile.

Tristan smirked, holding the card between his fingers. “I’m only signing up for lifetime pampering, you

know.”

Seeing him act so flippantly, Brianna let out a sigh. “Your dad wouldn’t really hurt you. He just…”

“Just wants to build connections so I can take over Pratt Group smoothly,” Tristan cut in, his eyes dark as midnight.

“But if I never get to love someone so deeply it hurts, with all the passion in me, then my whole life would feel wasted,” he said.

He nearly gritted his teeth as he said it, but the last bit came out as a whisper, almost a sigh.

Brianna’s fingers gave a slight tremor, and coffee splashed onto the web between her thumb and forefinger, the heat making her heart tingle with a strange numbness.

It was as if she heard a deep, echoing thud, the boulder called “restlessness” plunging into the dried-up lake of her heart, sending ripples everywhere.

She lowered her gaze, tucking her reddened fingertips into her palm. When she looked up again, her eyes were already curved with a smile. “Alright, but my little company can’t compete with Levy Group when it comes to salary.”

Tristan paused for half a second, then those charming, mischievous eyes lit up, like a thousand fireworks bursting to life inside them.

He straightened up with a grin and reached out. “Where’s the contract? I’ll sign a lifetime deal, heck, even a slave contract! Let’s do it right now!”

Brianna was tugged forward, nearly falling right into his arms.

The subtle scent of cedar from him drifted over, and she could feel her heart skip a beat, racing wildly in her chest.

Brianna gave him a half-exasperated, half-playful glare. “Seriously, you’re not a kid anymore, still acting all devil-may-care. No wonder your dad cut off your card.”

Tristan’s brows sharpened as he mocked, “You’re way too obedient, no fight in you at all. If you had even a bit of rebellious spirit, Brandon wouldn’t have you so completely under his thumb.”

Tristan’s jab about her “lack of fight” hit Brianna like a row of nails, each one stinging her pride a little deeper. She shot him a look, her smile still lingering, but there was a spark of defiance in her eyes.

“I’ve already filed for divorce. We’re in the cooling-off period,” she said.

As soon as she said it, the atmosphere in the office instantly felt suffocating, like all the air had been sucked
