Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire

She handed him the cup, their fingertips brushing for a fleeting moment-her fingers cold, his hot.

Her smile was warm, but a thin layer of frost lingered in her eyes.

“It’s an honor to have you here, Mr. Flynn,” she said.

Kane didn’t reply. He traced the rim of the cup with his thumb, then suddenly looked up. His gaze was like a blunt knife, slow and heavy, cutting into her.

“Why did you call off the deal?” Kane’s voice was rough, almost unrecognizable. “I’m willing to concede three percent.”

Brianna stayed standing, towering over him with a flawless smile, her gaze cast downward-every inch radiating authority.

“The truth?” Brianna repeated softly, her lips quirking into a smirk. “How much is the truth worth to you?”

She let go, straightened up, and stood backlit, her entire face lost in shadow.

“What I want is the truth,” Brianna said, her voice suddenly rising, then dropping sharply. “Who brought Darcy onto that cruise?

“Who made sure that knife landed exactly where it did? And who set up that perfect ‘hero saves the damsel’ act?”

With each question, her voice grew sharper and more unwavering, while Kane’s swagger faded, his bravado shrinking until he was pressed back against the sofa, cornered with nowhere left to go.

Suddenly, Kane rose abruptly, closed the distance in a heartbeat, and grabbed her wrist-his palm searing hot.

“If I told you it was all a trap,” Kane rasped, a flicker of desperation burning in his eyes, “then the prey wasn’t anyone else. It was me. Brianna, I walked right into it. I own up to it.”

Brianna lowered her eyes, seeing his knuckles go pale from the force of his grip. The smile at her lips slowly vanished, replaced by a sharp, icy line-her expression turning cold and unyielding.

She withdrew her hand, painfully slow-like unsheathing a blade, inch by inch, letting its chill and edge show with every movement.

“Own up?” Brianna turned away from him, her voice soft as a sigh. “Then stay trapped in the game.”

‘Just wait and see how I reel you in. The last line stayed locked behind her lips, but the intent was unmistakable.

Kane’s expression kept shifting, like he was making up his mind about something. He let out a heavy sigh, a wry, helpless smile tugging at his lips.

“Working with the Flynn Group is all upside for you-no downside,” Kane said, his voice steady. “Brandon can barely keep himself afloat this time. Without the Levy Group backing Unity, that big operation of yours could go under any time.”

Brianna let out a small, knowing smile. “Looks like you’re pretty confident in Ms. Moore, huh, Mr. Flynn?”

Kane’s smile faltered, shock flashing in his eyes. “Wait, you knew Allison trapped Brandon?”

Brianna didn’t answer; she held his gaze, steady and unflinching.

“You’re a lot sharper than I thought,” Kane said with a bitter smile. “So, you should realize that in times like these, the smart move is to make sure you’ve got an escape route.”

Brianna squared her shoulders and stepped right up to Kane, her voice sharp. “So you’re that sure Allison’s going to come out on top?”
