Chapter 25 Blanca Is the Chairwoman

Brianna’d barely gotten any sleep last night, her head pounding with exhaustion. After dropping off Brandon, Brianna swung by a pharmacy for a pregnancy test, then headed home and collapsed into bed.
She didn’t wake up until noon. She ordered some takeout, booted up her computer, and dove into work.
Patsy messaged her about the company’s listing preparations, and the planning team sent over product promo posters. By the time she’d responded to everything, the afternoon was well underway.
It hit her that she hadn’t visited the Harper family in forever, so she called Vickie to say she’d come over for dinner, then hopped in the car and drove there.
When she pulled up at the Harper family, the nanny was busy in the kitchen prepping food, and Caroline was out in the yard. Caroline’s face lit up at the sight of Brianna. “It’s been ages since you came by. You look so thin!”
She eyed Brianna with heartfelt concern.
“I’ve just been swamped lately. Once things settle down, it’ll be better.” Brianna smiled, trying to reassure her.
Soon enough, Mitch and Vickie arrived home, and the nanny brought out the dishes. It had been a while since the family had gathered for a meal like this.
The main reason for her visit was to give them a heads–up: her company was officially launching and listing next Monday.
They were over the moon for her and insisted they’d be there to show their support.
Honestly, though, the listing was mostly just a formality.
“Did you invite anyone from the Levy family?” Mitch asked.
He had mixed feelings about Brianna’s upcoming divorce. When Brandon had brought Kendra over last time, he’d struck him as someone Brianna could truly rely on for life.
Brianna said, “No.”
“You should at least give them a heads–up. You’re not divorced yet. It’s important to keep up appearances and show the proper respect,” Caroline chimed in.
“But they might not be on board with me starting my own business.”
Just thinking about Gabrielle made her waver; she had no energy for putting on a fake smile with them right now.
“If you don’t tell them, they’ll hear about it eventually. Then you’ll come off as the unreasonable one,” Caroline pointed out gently.
Brandon might not be the best guy, but his etiquette was flawless. Even if you couldn’t stand him, it was tough to find any real fault.
Despite being on the verge of divorcing Brianna, when Mitch got out of prison, Brandon had gone out of his way to bring Kendra for a visit, handling everything with impeccable courtesy.
Brianna agreed with a nod.
Mitch and Vickie shared a hesitant look.
Brianna asked, “Mitch, what’s up?”
Mitch furrowed his brow, his voice tentative. “Brianna, there’s something I need to tell you. But promise me you won’t get upset, okay?”
Brianna let out a small laugh. She thought, ‘What could possibly be so bad that I can get mad?”
He said, “Unity Group’s equity structure has changed. Blanca is the new chairman.”
With a sharp smack, Brianna slammed her fork down on the table in rage, the veins in her forehead throbbing visibly.
She could feel a intense pulsing in the veins of her neck.
Unity Group was Trina’s life’s work. The real estate company Trina had built from scratch. And now Blanca had snatched it
away.
She asked, “How on earth did this happen?”
en offloading shares little by little, never “It’s my fault for not being capable enough. Ove Successfully unlocked! suspected your father was quietly snapping them up en te scenes. vickie’s face was etched with shame. Brianna said, “It’s not on you, Vickie. Don’t beat yourself up over it.”

She thought, ‘If anyone deserves the blame, it is me! She held back the tears threatening to spill. She’d been the one who failed to safeguard Trina’s legacy.
Since Trina hadn’t divorced Whitney before passing away, he had a legal share in her assets anyway. The Harper family’s holdings weren’t that large to start with, and selling them off had only empowered the other side more.
“You can protect against decent folks, but not against snakes. Vickie, please don’t blame yourself.” Brianna offered more words of comfort, forcing herself to calm down so her family wouldn’t fret.
Caroline was seething at the news as well. “In a past–life, did I rack up some debt to the Meyers family? Why else would they be putting us through hell like this?”
Brianna said, “It’s all my fault for not being stronger back then. If I’d stood my ground, they wouldn’t have been so bold about it.”
Right after Trina died, Whitney and Blanca didn’t even try to hide their glee over her misery. It all felt so disgusting. Brianna just wanted to escape, latching onto Brandon as her savior while shirking the duties she should’ve handled.
Mitch said, “You were still a child then; don’t blame yourself. If anyone’s at fault, it’s me for being so incompetent.”
The three of them were all wallowing in guilt.
Caroline said, “Okay, that’s enough. No use dwelling on what’s done. The real question is, are we just going to sit idly by and let that sleaze steal Trina’s spot?”
Mitch said, “Mom, I’m working on a plan.”
“Mitch, you don’t need to get involved. You’ve got your hands full at home. I’ll handle this.” Brianna sounded determined. Outwardly firm, but inside, her mind was blank, yet she was dead set against letting that family have the last laugh. That night, preoccupied with everything, Brianna said goodbye to her family and headed back to the villa by herself.
Plagued by thoughts and still fuming over Blanca, she barely got any rest.
Come morning, she rose with a mix of nerves and dread, then took the pregnancy test.
Each ticking second was pure torture.
As she waited, Tristan’s call came through. “You hear about Unity Group?”
“Yeah, last night. I can’t let that woman swoop in and take Mom’s place. How do I kick her out of the company?” She was clueless about business warfare.
“We’ll need to play the long game. She and your dad have the controlling shares, total dominance. While it’s private, the minority shareholders are powerless against them.”
