Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30 He’s Scheming Something Shady?

The next day, Brandon did something totally out of character. He stuck around at the hospital, waiting while Brianna finished her prenatal checkup and got her file set up.

She’d already made up her mind not to keep the baby, so Brianna just went through the motions in a daze, eager to bolt as soon as it was over.

Deep down, though, she was torn.

When she’d first gotten pregnant with Kendra, she’d been over the moon, not just because it was Brandon’s kid, but thanks to that pure, instinctive rush of motherly love.

There was something inherently joyful about feeling a little life taking shape inside you.

With this baby, though, guilt gnawed at her.

She thought, I’m so sorry, little one. Mommy can’t bring you into this world. Head back to the sky and shine on as a bright star. Wait for me until I’m truly ready one day, or maybe in the next life, then come find me again. By the time they wrapped up, it was already noon.

Brianna was about to head off on her own as they left the hospital, but Brandon told the driver to swing by the Hawthorne Towers Lily Hall instead.

That was the spot where he’d proposed to her years ago, though Josefina had basically twisted his arm into it. He still remembered how, in those early years of marriage, they’d always come here to celebrate their anniversaries.

The reservation was all set, and the waiter showed them to a prime window table overlooking the entire city. She hadn’t been back in ages, and the familiar setting dredged up a flood of memories, tugging at the most tender part of Brianna’s heart.

We toasted to the proposal and to finding out about Kendra right here, remember?Brandon asked, swiftly placing their order.

He’d filed away her repeated mentions of her favorite dishes from this place.

What he didn’t realize, though, was that she kept bringing them up not because she was obsessed with the food, but because she longed for more time with him.

Kendra’s name was picked to honor the proposal here, too,” Brianna replied with a wry smile.

He was pulling out all the stops today, from morning till now, embodying the ideal husband. But none of it mattered to her anymore.

They shared a quick smile and settled into an easy quiet, taking in the breathtaking view while enjoying the food, perfectly in tune like lifelong friends.

In all their years as a couple, they’d never shared a moment this serene. No need to rush, some conversations could wait.

Right in the middle of the meal, her phone buzzed. A glance showed it was Clair.

Brianna said, Hey, Clair.

Clair said, Congrats, Brianna! The jewelry design contest results are in. You snagged the gold medal.

For real? It’s me? You’re not messing with me, are you?

Excitement bubbled up in Brianna’s voice.

Dead serious! You topped every round of voting. The committee’s announcing it tomorrow morning.Fantastic! I don’t even know how to thank you enough.

You deserved it, no question: The ceremony’s in Zaivine. You’ll be there, right?

You bet I will!

They talked a little longer before she hung up

A beaming smile spreads her yes yo

My design took home an award, Brianna blurted out, too thrilled to hold back from sharing with Brandon Cheers to that? Brandon lifted his wine glass in a toast

Brianna raised her water and clinked it against his

Her unfiltered joy and that dazzling smile left Brandon staring for a beat, completely captivated After lunch, on their way out, brandon had the driver talke Brianna straight to the office

Want me to swing by and pick you up this afternoon?he asked.

No thanksBrianna stepped out, brow furrowed in puzzlement. She thought, What is up with him today? Does he actually think the baby is his?

The thought of the child furrowed her brow again, dimming her high spirits. She thought, Should I bother figuring out who the father really is?

It’d be simple enough to pull up the security footage from that night and ID the guy.

But she thought, What is the point? That whole evening was meaningless, and she had no intention of keeping the pregnancy anyway.

By the time she reached her office, she’d shoved it all to the back of her mind.

Patsy hadn’t shown up yet, so Brianna gave her a call. Hey, Clair said my design won an award!

That’s fantastic! Let’s head out and celebrate tonight, Patsy said, beaming.

Just us two, I’ve got something to run by you.

What’s going on?

Her voice sounded serious, which made Patsy a little uneasy.

We’ll chat facetoface, it’s not phone material.

After hanging up, Brianna worked to calm her nerves and threw herself into her tasks.

Once work wrapped up, she linked up with Patsy for dinner.

The second they sat down, Patsy dove right in. So, what was that thing you mentioned earlier?

She figured it had to be tied to last night’s mess, maybe a blowup with Brandon.

I’m pregnant.

Patsy choked on her water, hacking away. But you’ve been talking about divorce.

It’s not Brandon’s,Brianna said matteroffactly.

Patsy had just sipped some water to recover, only to spray it everywhere.

What? Come again?she asked, stunned.

In all this time, there’d been zero hints of an affair, and Brianna hadn’t acted any different. She thought, How the hell is she carrying someone else’s kid? Who is the guy?

Remember that night we hit the bar? When I asked you later how I even got home? Yeah, that’s when it happened.

Patsy’s mouth hung open in a perfect O of shock. It took her a solid minute to snap out of it. Who? Who was it?She racked her brain, but no one else from that evening came to mind.

have no clue.

Another mouthful of water shot out from Patsy. So, what’s your plan? Does Brandon know?He does.Brianna winced, rubbing her forehead. I’m not keeping it.

And what’s his take?

Chapter 30 He’s Scheming Something Shady?

He’s acting like it’s his own. Even took me to lunch at the spot where he proposed.Maybe it really is. Don’t freak out too much,Patsy said reassuringly.

They’d all been hammered that night; no one knew if anything actually went down.
