Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 40

Chapter 40

24

Upon arriving in Seavale. Brisana didn’t reach out to Clair.

She just wanted some peace and quiet, to be by herself for a while.

She checked into a hotel, took a shower, and ordered room service.

The food in Seavale was famous for its sweet and fresh Savors, but just as Brianna was about to dig in, the overwhelming scent of seafood mixed with soy sauce rushed up, making her stomach turn.

She hurriedly tossed the takeout box into the trash, then sat there for ages before she finally started to feel normal again.

It wasn’t until nightfall that Brianna’s appetite finally returned.

She got dressed, grabbed her phone, and went downstairs, just looking for something simple to eat.

Wrapped in a white cashmere coat, her face bare and untouched by makeup, Brianna carried a quiet sadness. A hint of vulnerability that made her seem even more delicate.

There was a mall right next to the hotel, so Brianna pulled her coat tighter around herself and walked in.

As she wandered around, the sour and spicy aroma wafted through the air, making her mouth water. Her cravings were awakened like never before.

Following her nose, she found herself at the entrance of a pickled fish place. She hurried inside and ordered a plate of pickled fish.

The tangy sourness mixed with the spicy heat of peppercorns and chili finally awakened her appetite. Food really could comfort the soul. She let herself indulge, leaving her worries behind as she ate heartily.

As she was enjoying her meal, a voice sounded above her.

Brianna? What are you doing here?

She looked up and saw Clifford standing in front of her, with an elegantly dressed woman by his side.

Brianna smiled politely and greeted them, Hi, grabbing a bite?

After that, she smiled, making it clear she didn’t want to continue the conversation.

Are you here alone?Clifford asked, noticing there was only one set of utensils at her table. He glanced around, just to be sure no one else was with her.

Ever since he’d bumped into her at the hotel last time, Clifford had been eager to catch her cheating for Brandon.

Brianna didn’t pick up on his intentions.

Yeah,Brianna replied, clearly not in the mood to talk.

What are you doing in Seavale? Where’s Brandon?Clifford pressed.

None of your business!Brianna thought, rolling her eyes in annoyance. Clifford, just go eat. I won’t hold you up.

Seeing the woman next to Clifford glaring at her with obvious hostility, Brianna just wanted to get rid of this pain in the neck as fast as possible.

Does Brandon know you’re in Seavale?Clifford narrowed his eyes, sizing her up.

youchers

In his mind, Brianna was just a housewife who revolved around her husband and kid. So why aren’t Brandon and Kendra with her?he wondered,

Brianna, clearly annoyed, shot back, If you’re that curious, why don’t you just go ask trim yourself?

With that, she ignored him completely and focused on her food.

Clifford, left with nothing to say, walked off awkwardly.

Not wanting to get tangled up with them any further, Brianna quickly polished off her meal and headed to the counter to pay. But the server told her her bill had already been taken care of.

Brianna furrowed her brow, acting clueless, and asked who paid for it.

The server gestured toward Clifford, who was seated further inside, and said, That gentleman over there.

Brianna glanced over and saw Clifford giving her a casual wave. She didn’t acknowledge him and turned to the server. I don’t know that guy. You must’ve made a mistake. Please give his money back.”

With that, she pulled out her phone and signaled for the server to bring her the bill.

The server looked unsure, but seeing how insistent Brianna was, they had no choice but to bring her the bill.

It wasn’t too late, so Brianna decided to do a little shopping at the mall before heading back to sleep.

Retail therapy really worked for her. After buying some perfume and makeup, she felt the gloom in her heart fade away, at least halfway.

She was testing out some perfume when she heard a familiar voice behind her again.

Hey, we meet again?Clifford said.

Brianna turned around to find Clifford standing there, hands shoved in his pockets, a sarcastic grin on his face, clearly

amused.

Not even bothering to respond, Brianna just kept browsing, completely ignoring him.

Well, look at that. Brandon’s wife out here all alone, ditching her family for a little solo adventure?Clifford teased, sarcasm dripping from his voice.

Got nothing better to do, Clifford?Brianna shot back, her tone icy.

r

Oh, come on, as Brandon’s buddy, it’s only right I show some brotherly concern for his wife,” Clifford joked, his tone dripping with sarcasm and zero respect.

Brianna’s expression turned icy.

I don’t have time to mess around with you. Go bother someone else! With that, Brianna spun on her heel and walked away

Back when she cared about Brandon, she even tried to get on the good side of his friends. But now that she didn’t care about him anymore, there was no need to cater to them either.

Hey, what’s with the attitude lately, Brianna? Why so moody these days?Clifford said with a grin, catching up to her.

anna ignored him and kept walking.

Hey, Brianna, don’t rush off! I’ve got something important to tell you,Clifford said, sticking to her like glue.

Brianna was completely unmoved and just kept walking.

Seriously, you’ll want to hear this,Clifford kept playing coy, dangling the bait.

Brianna ignored him.

Clifford, out of options, quickly stepped forward and blocked Brianna’s way.

Brianna folded her arms across her chest, glaring at him with clear annoyance. What now?

Clifford gave her a playful, almost mocking grin. Your sister is in Seavale.”

Brianna gave him a sarcastic smirk, making it clear she wanted nothing to do with him. So?

Clifford pressed, Don’t you even care why she’s here?

That’s got nothing to do with me,Brianna replied flatly.

Don’t say that. She’s here for you. Aren’t you curious about her scheme?Clifford said, flashing a sly smile.

Not interested!Brianna shot back, not wanting to get tangled up in his nonsense. She walked right past him without a second glance.

Seriously, she’s after you! If you ever get curious, just call me!Clifford called out after her, sounding pretty pleased with hanself.

Back then, they never really took Brianna seriously, just seeing/her as some calculating golddigger. But now that she wasn’t acting all cautious anymore, they actually found her more entertaining to tease.

Brianna didn’t give his words a second thought. She just dismissed it as another bored rich kid’s silly game. After leaving the mall, she went straight back to the hotel, washed up, and crashed into bed, falling into a deep sleep.

In her dreams, Brianna saw her mother.

Brianna couldn’t help but cry as she saw her mom. Mom, what should do?she asked, her voice trembling.

Her mother gave her a loving look and reassured her, I believe in you.”

As Brianna tried to hug her mom, her arms closed around nothing. Her mother faded away into the light.

Panicking, Brianna reached out, trying to hold onto her mom as she slowly disappeared, but her hands closed on nothing. helpless to stop it.

A piercing ringtone snapped her out of her sleep, dragging her abruptly from her dream.

As she slowly came to, Brianna found her face already wet with tears.
