Brianna watched Darcy lovely waiting for my reaction

Brianna frowned, pulling her arm away with obvious displeasure.

If it had been anyone else, they would’ve been super embarrassed.

But Darcy just flashed a playful smile.

Her face was still full of that harmless, girl–next–door charm.

Thinking back to how Darcy had acted like a bossy drama queen in the fitting room. Brianna let out a cold laugh inside

‘Man, she’s got that innocent act down pat, Brianna thought.

Clifford suggested they go out for dinner, and for once, Brandon actually asked Brianna what she wanted.

“Do you want to go out?” Brandon asked.

“Yeah, let’s go,” Brianna replied.

Brianna was determined to get to the bottom of her suspicions.

Seeing that hickey on Brandon’s neck was the last straw. Brianna couldry hold back anymore, she had to confront Darcy

Once Brianna and Brandon finished changing, everyone got ready to head downstairs.

That was when Brianna picked up her phone and realized it was off. As soon as she turned it on her screen was instantly flooded with WhatsApp notifications.

Nearly all of them were from Clair.

Unable to reach her, his texts grew increasingly frantic.

Less than three minutes after she powered it on, Clair called, his voice thick with worry.

“Brianna, where have you been? Why has your phone been off?” Clair asked, his tone full of concern

As Brandon listened in, bis gaze grew icy.

“Oh, Clair, sorry for making you worry,” Brianna said.

Brianna felt a bit of warmth inside. At least someone was actually worried about her.

“I wasn’t feeling well last night, so I went to the hospital. When I got back. I just crashed and didn’t even check my phone. she explained.

“So, how are you feeling now?” Clair asked, his relief obvious but worry still lingering in his voice.

“I’m okay now,” Brianna said softly.

“Oh, that’s a relief. I couldn’t get in touch with you, so I went to the hotel to look for you. The front desk said someone had checked out, and I was freaking out. I was about to call the police,” Clair said, still sounding shaken.

Even now, just remembering it sent a chill down Clair’s spine.

“Thanks, Clair. I wasn’t feeling well, so I ended up staying with my husband. Don’t worry about me,” Brianna said, making a point to stress the word “husband.”

As she spoke, she cast Darcy a discreet glance, making sure the message landed.

Sure enough, a flicker of disappointment crossed Darcy’s face.

For a split second, their eyes met, and then Darcy quickly put on her sweet, innocent smile again.

Once they stepped out of the hotel, Darcy latched onto Brandon, playing the innocent little sister and sticking close to him.

She fluttered around him, sparkling like a butterfly, full of energy and charm.

It almost looked like they were the real couple.

Brianna was left on the sidelines, completely ignored.

After everything that happened last night, all the fear and sense of injustice inside her had finally turned into anger.

Right now, she just wanted to explode.

Clifford walked next to Brianna, watching Darcy and Brandon up ahead. Sometimes they looked like siblings, other times like lovers.

He glanced over at Brianna, concern written all over his face.

Brianna kept a poker face, but the pain in her eyes was impossible to miss.

“What did you mean the other day when you said Darcy had her sights set on me?” Brianna asked.

Brianna gave him a once–over, making sure he really was in the dark, then knally looked away.

Clifford suddenly became unusually attentive, going out of his way to be helpful.

“Heard your company’s looking to raise some funds?” he asked, trying to sound casual.

“Yeah,” Brianna replied, her mind still on the two people up ahead.

Her eyes narrowed, keeping them firmly in her sights.

After everything that happened last night, Brianna realized she was starting to depend on Brandon.

Watching Darcy and Brandon laugh and joke together stung Brianna’s eyes, making her feel like she was being completely left out.

She suddenly felt a burst of rivalry rising inside her.

“Honey,” Brianna called out, her voice laced with playful affection and a hint of possessiveness.

Brandon turned around, caught off guard for a second, but a pleased grin quickly spread across his face. He couldn’t hide how much he loved it.

“I totally forgot something,” she said, deliberately using a sweet, coquettish tone.

Inside, she couldn’t help but feel a wave of self–disgust for playing the cute card.

“What is it?” Brandon replied, playing it cool, though there was a definite hint of gentleness in his voice.

“I need a dress for the awards ceremony, but I totally forgot to bring one. What am I supposed to do now?” she pouted. putting on her best helpless act.

Normally, she was the one who had to worry about everything

She was basically the nanny and the mom all rolled into one.

But now, she was going to play the helpless baby just like Darcy did.

Brandon gave her a reassuring smile, a playful glint in his eyes as he replied.

“Don’t worry about it. We’ll just go buy one,” he said, totally unfazed.

‘Hmph, men really can’t resist this kind of thing, Brianna thought.

Darcy stared at Brianna so fiercely, it was like her jealousy was about to spill out and turn into blood.

“I want a dress from Brand A! I saw their spring–summer collection and totally fell in love with it,” Brianna said, putting of her sweetest, most playful voice.

She almost went full on baby talk and called herself “this girl,” but the words just stuck in her throat. No way she could bring herself to say it

Brandon answered in a gentle, doting tone.

“Sure, whatever makes you happy,” he replied, completely spoiling her

When Darcy heard Brand A, her expression shifted, a flicker of nervousness flashed in her eyes.

But right after, excitement sparkled in her gaze, impossible to hide.

“Let’s head over now! Perfect timing. Brandon’s custom–made gown for me just arrived, Darcy chirped, practically glowing with excitement.

As she said it, Darcy arched her brow at Brianna in a taunting way.

“Oh, really?” Brianna said, sounding totally unfazed, not giving Darcy the satisfaction, she was looking for.

“So you like that brand’s clothes too, Brianna?” Darcy asked, her tone sugary sweet but with a hint of challenge. “If only I’d thought of it when Brandon was ordering my gown, I should’ve had him get one for you too.” Darcy said. Darcy shrank back a little, giving that classic guilty–kid look, playful, mischievous, and totally acting like she’d just been caught red–handed.

“Their custom gowns are all pre–ordered, so if we go now, we’ll only get the ready–to–wear stuff,” she said, sounding all regretful.

She pouted, looking genuinely bummed about it.

Brianna watched Brandon closely, thinking, ‘This bastard–he’s just sitting there, acting all innocent like nothing ever happened.‘

“Oh, really? Brandon got you a custom–made gown?” Brianna asked, feigning jealousy.

She gave him a mock–complaining look, acting like she was grumbling at him for it.

Brandon stayed totally unfazed, not even a hint of embarrassment for being called out. When he saw Brianna acting jealous. he just smiled and reassured her.

“If you want one, just order it,” Brandon said.

Brianna flashed a bright, radiant smile and stepped forward, slipping her hand into Brandon’s arm.

“Thanks, honey,” she said, her voice sweet and a little triumphant.

Her adorable, lively vibe totally mesmerized Brandon. He was caught off guard, unable to look away.

He was absolutely taken with her sparkling energy.

Brianna hooked her arm through Brandon’s, making it clear to everyone she was staking her claim, and walked confidently toward the mall.

Darcy

knew she couldn’t keep playing third wheel, so she stepped aside and joined Clifford at the back

When they arrived at Brand A, as soon as they stepped through the door, the staff greeted them warmly, all smiles and ready

to serve.

Brianna cast a discreet glance behind her.

The moment the staff saw Darcy, they immediately understood what was up and pretended Brianna was a stranger.
