As Brianna slowly regained consciousness, a surge of fear washed over her.
She jolted upright in bed, her heart racing.

She glanced around in panic, and when she realized she was in a hospital, she finally managed to breathe.
Looking down, she saw she was in someone else’s clothes, not what she’d worn last night.
Her nerves tightened all over again.
Her heart quivered, and her limbs felt cold and numb.
Her mind was spinning with questions.
‘Who was with me last night? How did I end up here?’ Brianna wondered.
Just as she was about to get out of bed, the door to the hospital room swung open.
Brandon walked in, holding some medicine and a stack of medical documents. Their eyes met the momen he stepped inside.
“You’re awake? How are you feeling?” Brandon asked, his voice gentle.
He hurried over to the bed.
“What happened last night?” Brianna asked, her voice still raspy.
Seeing Brandon, Brianna felt a wave of relief wash over her.
“You were kidnapped,” Brandon replied.
“Who did this?” Brianna asked, her voice trembling.
“I have no idea. Whoever did it got away,” Brandon replied.
“Did the police let you know?” Brianna asked.
Brandon’s eyes widened in disbelief as he looked at her. ‘She really forgot everything from last night?’ he thought.
‘And what about right before sunrise?’ he wondered.
‘Did she wipe all that from her memory too?’
“You don’t remember?” Brandon asked, still stunned.
Brianna slowly shook her head, her temples throbbing painfully. ‘Why does my head hurt so much?’ she wondered.

“I had someone check the security cameras. I saw you walk into an alley. Why did you go there?” Brando asked.
Brandon pressed her gently, but there was urgency in his voice.
“I got a text from someone who said they knew something about my mom and wanted to meet,” Brianna recalled, her memory piecing itself together bit by bit.
“And then… I was drugged and blacked out,” Brianna said.
That morning, after watching the security footage, Brandon saw her walk into the alley and immediately realized someone had lured her into a trap.
He never imagined it would actually turn out to be true.
“Did you find me?” Brianna asked, her voice uncertain.
“Yes, I did,” Brandon replied.
“Where was it?” Brianna pressed.
“In an old factory out in the suburbs,” Brandon answered.
Brianna’s heart skipped a beat, and she felt so overwhelmed she was on the verge of tears.
“Then… did I…” Brianna whispered, her voice trembling.
Her voice caught, unable to finish the sentence.
“No,” Brandon said softly.
He gently pulled her into his arms, holding her close.
He gently ran his hand over her back, soothing her.
“They were just after money,” Brandon said softly.
Brianna threw herself against his solid chest, and finally, all her fear and anxiety burst out as she broke down in tears.
After letting all her fear out, Brianna’s mind finally cleared.
Brianna pressed him again.
“How did you know I was kidnapped?” Brianna asked, her voice still shaky.
“I couldn’t find you, so I had my assistant track your phone. When I saw it was heading out of the city, I knew something was wrong and came looking for you,” Brandon replied.
Brandon’s tone was so restrained, it sounded like he was just dealing with a routine matter.

Hearing his steady, almost indifferent voice, Brianna felt a faint sense of disappointment.
‘What was I hoping for? He kept me safe. That’s what a husband should do, she told herself.
“Did you call the police?” Brianna asked, her voice more composed now.
Brianna collected herself, trying to keep her emotions in check.
“No,” Brandon replied.
“I want to handle this privately,” he said.
There was a dangerous undertone in his voice.
Brianna spaced out for a moment, then shook her head with a self-deprecating smile. ‘Maybe it’s just bec I’m Brandon’s wife now, she thought.
They sat in silence for a while before Brianna finally spoke.
“If we’re done here, let’s get out of here,” she said.
“The doctor ordered some tests. We’re not leaving until they’re done,” Brandon replied.
His tone left no room for argument.
Brianna went through all the tests without a fuss, and everything came back normal.
On the way back to the hotel, Brianna sat next to Brandon, breathing in the faint scent of his cologne. For some reason, it made her feel safe.
She turned her head and looked at his sharp, almost sculpted profile. Before she knew it, a small smile tug at her lips.
But her smile barely lasted three seconds before her gaze was drawn to the love bite on his neck.
‘Was it Darcy?’ Brianna wondered.
‘Did he come to Seavale just for Darcy?’ she thought.
‘Have they already been intimate?’ Brianna’s mind spun with suspicion.
The disappointment in her chest was so suffocating, she could barely breathe.
Brianna wanted to turn him down and head back to the hotel alone, but the memory of last night still left h shaken and scared.
She didn’t dare be alone right now.
So, she had no choice but to go back to the hotel with him.
Brandon said the kidnappers were just after money, but Brianna wasn’t really buying it.
Chapter 45
That text message had to be from someone who knew her personal business.
If they were only after the Levy family’s money, they wouldn’t know the details about her family.
And the fact that she was in different clothes now made her feel uneasy.
Brianna sighed quietly.
Once the awards ceremony was over, she was heading straight back to the capital. She didn’t want to spe another second in this city.
When they got back to the hotel, Brianna noticed that all her belongings had already been moved to the
room.
Her phone was completely dead, so she put it on charge and only then did she head to the bathroom fo shower.
Once she was undressed, she caught sight of herself in the mirror and stood there, stunned.
Her chest was covered in countless love bites.
She could barely stand, one hand gripping the sink for support while the other clamped over her mouth stifling her silent sobs.
After what felt like forever, she finally made her way to the shower, tears streaming down her face.
She scrubbed herself again and again, almost rubbing her skin raw.
There was a knock at the bathroom door.
“Are you okay?” Brandon called out, his tone icy and distant.
There was no undoing what had happened. Brianna could only face it with reluctant acceptance, telling herself to move on.
Brianna composed herself and walked out of the bathroom, her eyes still puffy and red from crying.
Maybe sensing her sadness, Brandon stood behind her as she sat on the couch, tenderly drying her hair v towel, his touch surprisingly gentle and caring.
Brianna shut her eyes, feeling the weight of everything that had happened.
‘Maybe that’s why he didn’t call the police. He didn’t want anyone to know I’d been tainted, Brianna thou
Brianna took a deep breath and slowly let her eyes fall closed, trying to steady herself.
Brandon patiently combed through her hair, then grabbed the hair dryer and gently dried it, his touch careful and tender.
The hum of the dryer filled the silence between them, making it easier for both to avoid conversation.

Brianna’s mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.
‘What was it that Clifford said the other day?’ she wondered.

‘Wasn’t Darcy in Seavale because of me?’ Brianna thought, suspicion creeping in.
Darcy definitely had a motive to hurt her, and she knew everything about her family.
“What are you thinking about? You seem really out of it,” Brandon asked, his voice softer than usual.
“It’s nothing,” Brianna replied, still feeling awkward about how close they’d become.
She stood up and walked over to the bed.
