Chapter 53 Brianna Plunges Off the Cliff
Chapter 53 Brianna Plunges Off the Cliff
The chaos around Brandon finally settled.
The staff came over and helped the girl out of the ski area.
Brandon looked up.
But Brianna was nowhere to be seen.
Anxiety gnawed at him. A sense of dread hung heavy in his chest.
He handed his gear to the staff. Then he rushed out of the ski area.
He looked around everywhere, but Brianna was completely gone.
While he was wondering if he should head back to the room and check there first, or try searching the paths on the other side of the resort, Darcy rushed over, looking absolutely terrified.
She was gasping for air, her breath coming in ragged bursts.
Her expression was nothing but panic.
“Brandon, Kendra…” Darcy called out. She was running through the snow, struggling to catch her breath.
Brandon’s heart sank.
“What’s wrong? What happened to Kendra?” Brandon asked.
Darcy, barely able to catch her breath, finally blurted out, “Kendra went down hard. She banged her head and blacked out.”
Brandon’s heart clenched with worry.
He left Darcy behind and hurried off, sprinting back toward the ski area.
Darcy watched as Brandon hurried away, his figure quickly disappearing into the distance.
Her eyes turned venomous, a cold malice flickering across her face.
She spun around and strode off in the opposite direction.
Darcy made her way along the path to the viewing platform by the mountainside.
Even from a distance, she could already see Brianna’s figure up ahead.
Brianna stood there, arms folded across her chest.
She was standing by the railing, gazing out over the endless snowy landscape.
Darcy sneered inwardly, ‘She’s just like her mom, always acting all mysterious and brooding.’
Only by following the winding path could one reach this spot.
It was practically deserted.
There wasn’t even a single bird around.
Darcy’s eyes glinted with contempt and venom. Her gaze was as poisonous as a snake flicking its tongue.
She scanned the area, confirming there were no cameras and not a single soul around.
With unwavering resolve, Darcy approached Brianna.
“Brianna,” Darcy called out.
Brianna glanced over and saw it was Darcy.
She just frowned and ignored Darcy.
“Well, aren’t you in a poetic mood? Why have you come out here alone?” Darcy said.
Brianna turned to face her. She folded her arms across her chest.
Brianna saw that Darcy’s usual sweet act wES

Now, Darcy was glaring at her, pure malice in her eyes.
That look instantly reminded her of Blanca.
Brianna couldn’t help but let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“Are you done pretending now?” Brianna said.
Brianna stepped right up to Darcy.
She mocked, “You really are a spitting image of your mom.”
Darcy flashed a cold, venomous smile. It was as unsettling as a vulture’s stare.
“And aren’t you just like your mom, who died young?” Darcy sneered.
Brianna raised her hand. She viciously slapped Darcy across the face.
“You’re not even worthy to talk about my mom!” Brianna snapped.
Darcy turned her face aside.
She laughed instead, a twisted smile spreading across her lips.
“Do you even know how your slut of a mother ended up in that car crash?” Darcy said.
Brianna’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.
“So it really was you guys all along?” Brianna hissed.
Darcy glared at her, her cheek still burning and swollen from the slap.
She spoke deliberately, pausing between each word.
“My mom merely told her that Dad once named me Brianne. The name means strong, virtuous, and honorable. That’s why Dad named me Brianne.
“Brianna, Brianne. Tell me, do you think Dad did it on purpose?”
‘So that’s it, Brianna realized.
Brianna was trembling with anger.
She glared at Darcy, hatred blazing in her eyes.
“I won’t let you get away with this,” Brianna growled.
Darcy snickered. It was as if she found Brianna’s words hilarious.
But her smile quickly faded.
She said, her voice dripping with contempt, “I’ve been hearing that threat since I was a kid. Your mom never stopped threatening us.
“But guess what? She’s the one who ended up dead. And the three of us? We’re doing just fine.”
Darcy shot Brianna a smug, venomous look.
She continued, “Mom and Dad are the perfect couple. And as their daughter, I get to enjoy all their affection. I’ m pampered by Mom and Dad, spoiled rotten by their love.”
Brianna was so angry that her whole body trembled with rage.
Her eyes brimmed with tears.
Darcy kept taunting her, “And I should really thank you for landing such a perfect husband. If you hadn’t married Brandon, I never would’ve had the chance to get close to the CEO of the Levy Group.”
Brianna shot her a glare, hatred blazing in her eyes.
“So, you’re really planning to be a homewrecker just like your mom?” Brianna spat.
Darcy pressed a finger to her lips, giving a sly “shh” gesture.
“The process doesn’t matter,” Darcy said. “It’s the result that counts. Let’s see who gets the last laugh.” Brianna shook her head, furious and disgusted.

“You and your mom are the most shameless mother-daughter duo I’ve ever come across, Brianna spat.
“Oh yeah?” Darcy sneered. “But you and your mom? We used you, sucked you dry, and tossed you aside like yesterday’s trash.”
Brianna was so furious that she could barely speak.
“Don’t tell me you actually think Brandon is anything like Whitney, who’d just ditch his wife and kid? You couldn’ t be more wrong.”
Brianna was seeing red, absolutely unable to stand watching Darcy act all high and mighty.
“If you think you’ve got the guts to take Brandon, then he’s all yours,” Brianna spat.
Darcy let out a mocking laugh, then drawled, “You know, you’ve hated me ever since we were little. And I’ve always hated you just as much.
“Why should my dad be bound to you and your mom? He didn’t want anything to do with either of you. He never loved your mother or you.”
Brianna’s heart twisted painfully.
‘Is that so?’ Brianna retorted. “If he loves you that much, then why didn’t he get a divorce?
“Why would he rather let your mom be the mistress everyone condemns for over twenty years? Why would he rather let you be the bastard everyone points fingers at?
“Don’t tell me you actually think my mom was the one clinging desperately, refusing to let him go?
“Every single time, it was Whitney literally begging us, pleading with my mom not to throw him out of the house. He said that he couldn’t stand to lose her and me.”
Darcy’s expression darkened, her eyes burning with wounded fury.
But then she broke into a venomous grin.
“If he hadn’t groveled like that, how else could he have snatched away everything your mom had? Speaking of which, it’s all thanks to your dead mom that I ended up with Brandon.”
With that, she let out a maniacal, mocking laugh.
Brianna lunged at Darcy, swinging at her.
But Darcy quickly sidestepped, dodging the attack. Using the momentum, Darcy gave Brianna a shove. Brianna was sent stumbling backward toward the railing. Her balance faltered, and she nearly toppled over the railing. Luckily, she managed to grab onto the railing just in time.
Just as Brianna was about to regain her balance, Darcy pressed her hand firmly against Brianna’s chest. The force left Brianna hanging halfway over the railing.
Brianna stared at Darcy, her eyes wide with terror.
‘What is she up to?’ Brianna thought.
