Brianna shot Brandon a displeased look.

‘Is he so reluctant to be apart from Darcy?’ she thought. ‘Does he have to bring her along even when he’s out having fun?’

Brandon wore a faint smile on his face.

“You’re here to ski too?” he asked.

Darcy grinned brightly, her eyes sparkling with joy.

“Yeah, my friends came to hang out, so I brought them here to ski,” she replied.

As she spoke, she glanced at the girls standing beside her.

They were all young and gorgeous, just like Darcy.

Brianna stole a discreet glance at them.

They all seemed to resemble Darcy in looks. They were beautiful, no doubt, but lacked any real spark. There was also a touch of frivolity about them.

Brianna thought to herself, sizing them up quietly, ‘Birds of a feather flock together.’

Kendra couldn’t hide her excitement when she saw Darcy.

“Aunt Darcy, Justin is here too,” Kendra said. “You haven’t met him yet, have you?”

Darcy held Kendra’s hand.

“I’ve missed you so much, sweetie,” she said. “Have you been keeping up with your dance practice these days?”

Kendra nodded eagerly.

“Of course. I’ve been practicing every day, just like you told me,” she said.

With that, Kendra twirled a few times in front of Darcy, showing off a little for her.

Brianna found the whole display hard to watch.

She walked off without saying a word.

She didn’t see Kendra watching her as she walked away.

Kendra’s face showed a mix of resentment and worry.

Kendra was scared that Brianna would bully Darcy again.

Last time at the hospital, if Gabrielle hadn’t been there, she wouldn’t have let Brianna bully Darcy.

Brandon greeted Darcy, then sat down next to Brianna.

He noticed Brianna’s sour expression.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

Brianna felt a wave of frustration building up inside her.

She retorted, her tone dripping with sarcasm, “Was it your idea to ask her to come here?”

“Me? Why would I want her here?” Brandon said.

He was focused on having his breakfast, and his eyes showed nothing but confusion.

“Then why is she even here?” Brianna pressed.

“Didn’t she say already? She came with her friends,” Brandon replied.

Brianna wasn’t buying it for a second.

She shot Darcy a look full of annoyance.

Darcy has a nose like a bloodhound, Brianna thought. No matter where Brandon goes, she always manages to track him down. She’s like a ghost that just won’t go away!

Tristan and Patsy came over and sat down next to Brandon and Brianna.

Patsy glanced over at Darcy’s table.

“What’s she doing here?” Patsy asked

Brianna just snorted and didn’t bother answering.

Tristan remarked sarcastically. Does she have a GPS tracker or something? How does she manage to follow Mr. Levy everywhere he goes?”

Brandon glanced at him.

Mr. Pratt, that’s a bit too much, Brandon said. ‘Darcy is Brianna’s sister.”

Tristan scoffed. “As long as you know, Mr. Levy

Brandon looked annoyed. He seemed like he’d just been insulted.

He was about to say something when Darcy walked over, holding Kendra’s hand.

Darcy greeted everyone

“Brianna, Kendra’s finished eating. I’m going to take her skiing now, Darcy said.

Brianna didn’t say a word.

Tristan quipped at Darcy ‘Are you not going to wait for Brandon? He hasn’t finished his breakfast yet.” Darcy blushed

Just then, Margo and her family walked into the restaurant.

Darcy walked over demurely

“Margo, you’re here too?” she called out.

Seeing Darcy show up so early Margo’s lips curled up in a smile.

Margo thought, Darcy’s got real street smarts

“Oh, it’s you, Darcy Margo called out. ‘You’re looking more gorgeous every time I see you.”

Once everyone had finished eating, the group made their way to the ski slopes.

Patsy and Tristan offered to keep Brianna company, but she politely declined.

Since everyone was already here, she just hoped they’d all enjoy themselves.

Brianna was a huge fan of skiing, but with her current condition, she couldn’t really join in. She could only watch from the sidelines.

A wave of desolation washed over her.

Surrounded by all the excitement and laughter, she felt nothing but alone.

Everyone was having a great time.

Brandon spent some time teaching Kendra and Justin how to ski.

He spotted Brianna standing off to the side, looking pretty lonely.

Brandon was just about to go over and keep her company when Darcy suddenly let out a startled cry and lunged toward him.

She fell right into his arms.

“Careful Brandon called out.

Brandon caught Darcy in his arms.

She slipped on the snow, her whole body pitching forward.

She wrapped her arms tightly around Brandon’s waist.

Darcy looked utterly terrified.

She glanced up at Brandon. Her pale little face was flushed bright red from the cold. Her eyes, wide and startled like a frightened fawn, darted around nervously. She looked heartbreakingly fragile and helpless.

“That scared me half to death,” Darcy exclaimed.

“Thank goodness Dad caught Aunt Darcy, or she would’ve been in real trouble,” Kendra said as she patted her chest.

After calming down from the scare, Kendra was still genuinely worried about Darcy.

Darcy straightened up, still clinging to Brandon’s arm for support.

She made no move to leave his embrace, lingering there on purpose. She kept herself pressed right up against

him.

“Thanks, Brandon,” Darcy said.
