Chapter 59 Virgin Mary Ornament
Chapter 59 Virgin Mary Ornament
After Brandon got a call from Patsy, his mood instantly darkened.
He knew that Benedict hated him.
After he kicked her out of the game, Benedict had been scheming behind his back, pulling all sorts of tricks.
Since they were family, he just turned a blind eye.
Now that he thought about it, the people who kidnapped Brianna last time in Ostville might have been acting on Benedict’s orders.
Benedict was out for revenge.
‘Family should be off-limits, Brandon thought. ‘Targeting my wife and daughter? That crosses the line.”
The darkness swirling in Brandon’s gaze was so intense, it felt like it could swallow the entire hospital room.
Just then, Caroline and his aunt walked in.
Brandon grabbed his coat.
He strode out of the hospital room.
He got into the car.
The driver could feel a chill creeping up his spine.
The chill in the air was bone-deep, colder than a winter night.
“Mr. Levy, where to?” the driver asked.
Intimidated by Brandon’s presence, the driver spoke in a sycophantic, almost groveling tone.
“Serenata Villa,” Brandon said curtly.
The driver floored it, speeding straight toward Margo’s house.
When Brandon stepped into Margo’s house, the butler jumped in surprise.
Brandon and Margo always put on a show of being close, but everyone knew they were anything but.
Besides, his wife was still in the hospital.
‘Why would the Grim Reaper show up here out of nowhere? the butler thought, uneasy.
Suspicion gnawed at him.
Still, he greeted Brandon with utmost respect and ushered him into the villa.
Margo was sitting at the dining table in a fancy silk robe.
She propped her head up with one hand, absentmindedly twirling a glass of water with the other.
She was clearly nursing a hangover.
Brandon’s face was stone-cold.
“Where’s Benedict?” he asked.
Margo barely spared him a glance.
She reached for a cigarette and lighter and lit it up, taking a slow drag, acting like he wasn’t even there.
Brandon kept silent.
Hands shoved deep in his pockets, he watched his downcast sister with a cold, unreadable expression. His gaze was frosty, chilling the air between them.
Margo slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
She turned to face Brandon, her eyes weary and guarded.
“Why are you looking for her?” she asked.
“I need to talk to her,” Brandon replied.
“She’s gone,” Margo said.
“Where did she go?” Brandon demanded.
“She went back home,” Margo answered.

Margo glared at him, hatred burning in her eyes.
Brandon’s stare was deadly, his eyes filled with lethal intent.
Benedict’s hometown was Ostville, a city in the northwest.
The bounty hunter Brandon kired found out the kidnappers were hiding in Ostville.
The kidnappers were holed up there.
Brandon sneered, a cold smirk curling on his lips.
His tone was taunting, laced with contempt.
“Did she take the kid with her?” he asked.
Margo flinched, the question striking a nerve.
Her knuckles turned white as she gripped her glass.
Brandon closed the distance with two purposeful steps.
He loomed over Margo, his presence overwhelming.

He spoke slowly, each word sharp and deliberate. “You don’t have a shred of Levy backbone in you. You can’t even keep your own kid safe. You’re not fit to be a mother.”
Margo’s anger boiled over.
She sprang up, snatched her glass, and flung it at Brandon.
He dodged nimbly.
The glass shattered on the floor behind him.
Brandon’s rage was palpable.
Margo sneered, lips twisted in contempt as she asked, “Do you even deserve to be called a father? Have you managed to protect your own children? Kendra, and the one who never even got to be born.”
Suddenly, the room felt suffocating, as if all the air had vanished.
Brandon’s jaw was clenched so tight, it looked like it might snap,
A vein throbbed in his neck, standing out starkly against his pale skin.
It was like someone had driven a nail into his spine.
Forcing him to straighten up, inch by inch.
But in the very next moment, it snapped, shattering him inside.
He was like a wolf whose tail had just been stomped on.
The pain was off the charts.
But he didn’t make a sound, not even a whimper.
Brandon took a step forward.
He clamped his hand around Margo’s throat, his grip unyielding and merciless.
Margo’s face quickly turned a dark, bruised purple as the air was choked out of her.
But even then, she just shot Brandon a slanted, mocking glare.
Not a hint of begging crossed her face.

The butler hurried over, looking panicked. “Mr. Levy, what are you doing? She’s your sister! Let her go! Please, let go, Mr. Levy!”
Brandon barely kept his anger in check.
He tightened his grip for a moment, then released her.
Margo staggered back a couple of steps.
The butler rushed over to steady her.
Brandon’s voice was icy as he said, “Anyone who dares hurt my family is finished. Consider yourself warned.”
With that, he walked out without looking back.
Back at the office, Brandon was just about to call the bounty hunter when his phone rang.
Brandon was just about to dial the bounty hunter when his phone rang.

Just then, the bounty hunter called.
Mr. Levy, we’ve found the culprit,” the bounty hunter said.
Brandon’s voice sharpened. “Where is he?”
“In a cave in the mountains. We just found him. But he’s dead already,” the bounty hunter said.
“What?” Brandon clenched the phone tighter, fury simmering just beneath the surface.
*Time of death-less than twenty-four hours ago. His throat was slit.” The bounty hunter sounded utterly indifferent, like murder was just another routine update for m
He continued, “Judging by the traces at the scene, it looks like someone’s been bringing him food lately.”
Brandon stayed silent, his mind racing.
The bounty hunter asked, “Want me to call the cops? Cops are quickest when it comes to tracking down leads.”
Brandon thought for a second.
Then said, “Call the cops. And check when Benedict went to Ostville.”
After hanging up, Brandon pressed his hand to his forehead.
He felt a headache coming on, lost in thought.
‘Damn, this all adds up, Brandon thought. ‘Benedict has motive to hurt my family. And the timing seems to match up.’
Brandon hesitated for a moment.
But then, his resolve became firm.
Family was where he drew the line.
He didn’t give a damn if it tanked the company’s value.
Brandon had just made it back to the hospital.
Right then, the bounty hunter checked in with an update.
Benedict had arrived in Ostville with Justin the afternoon before yesterday.
Brandon let out a cold, mocking laugh.
He told his people to keep a close eye on her.
Benedict could drop dead for all he cared.
But the kid was still with her.
Brandon had to make sure nephew was safe.
Brianna still couldn’t speak.
Faced with Brandon’s care, she seemed distant.
Brandon assumed it was just because she’d lost the baby.
She was angry at herself.
Brandon gently held her hand.
“Brianna, I know that wasn’t just some accident,” he said softly. “Don’t worry. I promise you, I’ll get justice for you and our child.”
Brianna turned to look at him.
Her eyes were a mess of emotions.
There was hurt, suspicion, and even a hint of gratitude mixed in.
Brandon carefully wrung out the washcloth, his movements gentle and attentive.
He tenderly wiped her body, making sure not to miss a single spot.
“Take your time to heal,” Brandon murmured. “When you’re feeling better, we’ll head to Eryndor and watch the Northern Lights together.”
Brandon said softly, his voice gentle and full of warmth.
Back when they got married, he’d asked Brianna what kind of wedding gift she wanted.
She’d said all she wanted was to go to Eryndor with him and see the Northern Lights.
But at the time, he was too busy taking over the company to make it happen.
