Chapter 58

A few more days passed.

After a week in a coma, the heart monitor started sounding off with abnormal readings.

A nurse rushed over to check.

Brianna slowly opened her eyes.

The nurse immediately called for the doctor.

After more than half an hour of examination, the doctor’s face lit up with joy.

Outside the ward, Brandon’s eyes were red. His fingers trembled, overwhelmed by emotion.

The doctor stepped out.

“Mr. Levy, your wife is awake,” the doctor announced.

Brandon nodded, his eyes brimming with tears.

In the afternoon, the nurse transferred Brianna to a VIP room on the top floor.

She was still hooked up to a ventilator.

Brandon stayed by her side, never leaving for a moment.

He held her hand tightly and gently kissed it.

Brianna tried to raise her hand, but she couldn’t move her limbs at all.

Seeing this, Brandon gently held her hand down.

Brandon asked, “What’s wrong? Do you want some water?”

Brianna shook her head gently. She seemed to want to say something.

Brandon removed the oxygen mask and leaned in closer.

“What do you want to say?” Brandon asked.

Brianna parted her lips, but not a single sound came out.

Still, Brandon understood what she meant.

He felt his eyes sting with emotion.

Brandon comforted her gently, “It’s okay. We’ll have another baby in the future.”

He understood that she was asking about the baby.

Brianna slowly closed her eyes.

Two sparkling tears rolled down her cheeks.

Brandon’s heart twisted with pain.

He gently brushed her tears away with his fingertips. Her tears burned against his skin.

He put the oxygen mask back on her and gently stroked her hair.

Brandon said, “Don’t dwell on it. Our baby will find his way to us again someday.”

Brianna turned away, feeling exhausted.

In the haze of her mind, all she could think about was her child.

She’d fought with everything she had to survive for her child’s safety.

But now, she’d lost her baby.

She felt so tired that she just wanted to drift into sleep and never wake up.

Brianna’s kin rushed to the hospital as soon as they heard that Brianna had woken up.

Cries broke out once more.

Brandon walked Caroline and Josefina downstairs.

Now, only Patsy was left in the room.

Patsy took Brianna’s hand.

They exchanged a look, both silently shedding tears.

Patsy finally spoke up, voicing the doubt in her heart. “Brianna, do you remember what happened that day?

Brianna wanted so badly to speak, but not a single sound escaped her lips. All she could do was blink.

“It wasn’t just an accident, was it?” Patsy asked.

Brianna blinked again.

“It was Darcy, right?” Patsy asked.

Brianna blinked.

“Was it on the viewing platform?” Patsy continued.

Brianna blinked again, tears falling once more.

much snow. I can’t find any evidence.

“But rest assured, I won’t let her walk away unpunished.”

Patsy was heartbroken.

‘Why does fate side with the bad guys?’ she thought bitterly. There’s no justice at all.

Brianna felt powerless. She stared blankly at the ceiling.

She had to recover, no matter what.

She had to fight for justice, for herself, and for her child.

Brianna looked at Patsy, as if she wanted to say something.

Patsy saw her expression and understood her concern.

She said. “You want to know about Kendra, right? She’s fine. She fractured her arm and got a bump on her forehead, but it’s nothing serious.

“She’ll be out of the hospital really soon. She’s in great spirits.”

As Patsy kept talking, she suddenly realized something was off.

“Wait, you already knew Kendra was hurt?” Patsy asked, surprised.

Brianna nodded.

“Did Darcy tell you?” Patsy pressed.

Brianna nodded again.

“So Darcy was the one who hurt Kendra, too?” Patsy asked.

Brianna nodded.

A look of surprise flickered in Patsy’s eyes.

‘If I can find evidence that Darcy hurt Kendra, that could be the opening we need, Patsy thought.

Patsy gave Brianna’s hand a reassuring pat.

“Don’t worry. I promise I won’t let her get away with this,” Patsy said.

Just then, Brandon returned to the room.

Patsy reiterated. “Mr. Levy, something’s not right about what happened to Brianna. Don’t let anyone be alt with her

Seeing how serious Patsy was. Brandon nodded.

Patsy rushed out of the room.

She grabbed Tristan and headed straight to the scenic area by car.

On the way, Tristan grumbled, “Brianna just woke up. Why are we rushing to the scenic spot right now, of: times?”

As she drove, Patsy asked. ‘I remember that right before Kendra got hurt, you were with them, weren’t you

Tristan thought back, trying to remember what happened back then.

“Yeah, Darcy kept clinging to Brandon and wouldn’t let him go after Brianna. So I stepped in and helped hi get away from her.”

Patsy pressed on. “So, were you anywhere near when Kendra got hurt?”

“No,” Tristan replied.

He recalled that when Kendra fell, he was nowhere close.

He only ran over after hearing all the noise.

By the time Tristan got there, Kendra had already been knocked out from the fall.

Patsy gave him a resentful glance.

“Why weren’t you with them?” she asked.

“Two girls wanted to race me, so I left,” Tristan answered, looking totally harmless.

Patsy rolled her eyes.

‘He’s never helpful, and always making things worse,’ she thought.

Tristan was trying to figure out why Patsy asked those questions.

“Oh, you think what happened to Kendra wasn’t just an accident? Someone did it on purpose?” he asked.

Patsy didn’t answer.

She was thinking back to what happened that day.

Those two girls hanging out with Tristan seemed to be Darcy’s friends.

Tristan snapped out of it.

“You think Darcy did it?” he asked.

Patsy just went, “Mm-hmm.”

Tristan frowned.

“No way. She’s always been good to Kendra, hasn’t she?” he said.

Patsy rolled her eyes.

“Brandon probably thinks the same,” she said.

Tristan was left speechless. He looked a little embarrassed.

“But what does she even get out of doing something like that?” Tristan asked, his eyes wide with confusion.

Patsy wanted to slam on the brakes and kick Tristan out right then and there.

She let out a long sigh and forced herself to calm down.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got.

Patsy couldn’t hold back and snapped. ‘Seriously, how does a blockhead like you ever make it to general manager?”

Tristan looked completely clueless.

“I just think that her family probably wants to cozy up to the Levy family. If she really harmed Brianna and Kendra, wouldn’t that just be digging her own grave?” Tristan said.

Patsy laughed. “Calling you brainless isn’t quite fair. You do have a few brain cells. But calling you smart wou be a stretch.”

Tristan looked annoyed.

“Then what do you think Darcy’s motive is?” he shot back.

“What if she wants to become Brandon’s wife?” Patsy asked.

“But Brianna’s already in the middle of a divorce,” Tristan blurted out.

Patsy said, “Brianna’s pregnant. What if she doesn’t end up getting a divorce?”

Tristan narrowed his eyes.
