Chapter 62 Return of the Family Head
Chapter 62 Return of the Family Head
New Year’s Eve had arrived.
As usual, the family gathered at the Levy family’s ancestral home to celebrate.
Benedict and his son were still nowhere to be seen.
Everyone was caught up in the festive spirit of the New Year.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened.
That was, until the third day of the New Year.
Early that morning, Josefina had the butler prepare gifts like cigarettes, wine, cordyceps, bird’s nest, and other traditional luxuries.
This was the first time since their marriage.
It was the first time Brandon was accompanying Brianna to the Meyers family to pay New Year’s respects.
Even though Brandon wasn’t exactly happy about it, Josefina still had to consider Brianna’s dignity.
If Brianna decided to go, the Levy family couldn’t afford to be disrespectful.
Brianna watched.
She took out her phone and placed the order.
Kendra knew they were going to visit her Darcy.
She got up early and put on her prettiest clothes.
She asked her grandma Josefina to style her hair like a princess, with soft waves draping over her shoulders.
Kendra kept urging everyone to leave already.
Soon, the gift delivery arrived.
Only then did Brianna help Brandon get ready.
They grabbed the gifts and set off for the Meyers family home.
The car wasn’t allowed into the neighborhood.
Brandon steadied Brianna with one hand.
With the other, he held Kendra’s hand.
They slowly walked into the neighborhood.
The driver followed behind, carrying all the gifts.
‘The further they walked, the more bleak Brianna felt inside, she thought.
This was the house her mother had bought twenty years ago.
She had moved in back when she was still in middle school.
She’d lived here for more than a decade.
Yet now, in such a way, someone else had become the mistress of the house.
Everything in this neighborhood looked just the same as she remembered.
But the people were different now, and nothing was quite the same.
As they neared the house, Brianna reached out her hand, and laced her fingers through Brandon’s, seeking comfort.
She nestled against Brandon, seeking comfort.
From a distance, they could see Whitney and Darcy waiting at the door.
Kendra was practically bouncing with excitement.
She let go of Brandon’s hand.
Then she dashed ahead.
“Darcy!” Kendra called out.
Successfully unlocked!
Darcy was grinning from ear to ear.
the crouched down and planted a kiss on Kendra’s cheek.
Chapter 62 Return of the Family Head “You look so pretty today,” Darcy said.
Brianna watched coally from the side.
Whitney stepped forward and greeted Brianna.
He looked a bit embarrassed as he asked, “Brianna, are you feeling better?”
Brianna nodded.
“Much better,” she replied.
Darcy gave Brianna a sweet, playful smile.
She reached out to support Brianna. “That’s wonderful! Finally, our whole family can have the reunion dinner together this year.”
Brianna avoided her touch.
She gave Darcy a cold, contemptuous look, seeing right through her little act.
Brianna thought, ‘How can she pretend to be so affectionate after what she did? She really has no shame!’
“It’s fine. Brandon’s supporting me,” Brianna said.
As she spoke, she leaned against Brandon.
Brandon switched hands, holding her.
He slipped his arm around her waist and helped her up the stairs.
Brianna gave Darcy a defiant look.
Anger sparked in Darcy’s eyes.
They stepped into the villa.
Brianna glanced around the familiar house.
Her heart felt like it was plunged into an icy pit.
The house itself hadn’t changed.
But inside, everything looked completely different from before.
The driver carried in all the gifts.
Whitney’s eyes practically lit up when he saw all the gifts.
It wasn’t just because he was greedy for gifts.
He wasn’t just eyeing the gifts for himself.
Seeing the gifts all neatly prepared, he realized the Levy family still wanted to keep the connection alive.
It meant their relationship could still be maintained.
Darcy still had a chance.
When Whitney learned that Darcy had accidentally pushed Brianna off the cliff, his heart sank.
He felt a heavy weight in his chest.
But he just couldn’t bring himself to scold his precious Darcy.
When Brianna finally woke up, Whitney was on edge.
He couldn’t sleep at night and was terrified she might accuse Darcy.
He was afraid she’d destroy his beloved daughter.
He even thought, ‘What if she wants revenge? What if she decides to get back at us? If she calls the police or asks the Levy family to punish Darcy, what will I do?’
He’d drop to his knees right in front of Brianna.
Begging and sobbing his heart out-he’d do anything, just hoping she would forgive Darcy.
Without Darcy, he wouldn’t even want to live anymore.
But not only did they show up for the family reunion, they brought a mountain of gifts with them.
That meant they weren’t planning to take revenge on Darcy
Maybe she just seemed fine.
a ant a head injury and forgot everything.

Maybe she didn’t even remember what happened that day.
Or maybe she’s just scared.
Either way, as long as Darcy’s safe, that was all that matters.
‘As long as my baby Darcy’s say, nothing else matters, Whitney thought. ‘If Darcy’s fine, there’s still a chance for everything.’
Blanca came out of the kitchen, wearing an apron.
“Oh, you’re here! Come on in, have a seat!” Blanca said warmly.
“Thank you for having us, Blanca,” Brandon said politely.
He tried to guide Brianna over to the sofa.
But Brianna didn’t want to sit down.
She held Brandon’s hand and scanned the room, taking everything in.
Darcy watched her, feeling irritated by her presence.
Darcy started playing with Kendra, trying to keep her entertained.
Whitney and Blanca stayed close by.
They watched Brianna closely.
They exchanged a look, not sure what kind of game she was playing.
Whitney forced a smile. “Brianna, you haven’t been back in so long. You should really come home more often and keep your dad company.”
Brianna didn’t respond.
She pointed at the huge crystal chandelier by the stairs and said, “This was designed by Mom’s favorite designer. It was custom-ordered from Valeentia, just for Mom.”
The moment those words left her lips, Blanca’s expression soured.
With Brandon there, she had to hold back her temper.
She gave Whitney a disgruntled glance.
Whitney gave her a gentle pat.
He signaled her to hold back.
Brianna kept walking.
She looked at the painting in the entryway.
She pointed at it and said, “This is an original piece by a famous painter. Mom spent a fortune to win it at an auction. It
used to be kept safe in the insurance company’s vault. Did you guys take it out of storage?”
“Yeah, I’ve always liked that painting, so I put it up,” Whitney said with a forced smile.
Brianna nodded.
She kept quiet, not saying a word or causing any trouble.
She held Brandon’s hand.
She started making her way upstairs.
Blanca tugged at Whitney’s sleeve.
Whitney hurried to say something.
“Brianna, the food’s getting cold. Why don’t we eat first?” he suggested.
“No hurry,” Brianna replied coolly.
With that, she started up the stairs.
This was a three-story mansion.
The second floor was where everyone relaxed.
The third floor was just the attic.
The attic used to be Brianna’s secret base.
There were three bedrooms upstairs, and Brianna’s was the one on the left.
