Chapter 74

Now that she had finally gotten her way, she was getting totally carried away. Of course, she had to come over and flaunt

When Brianna found Clair, she couldn’t wait to get out of there. The two slipped out of the gallery ahead of everyone els and made their way to a nearby café.

Her phone pinged with a new emall, but Brianna barely glanced at it. She continued chatting with Clair. They were heading home soon, and Clair said he would fly to Klamdiff with Brianna, then transit to Seavale after they landed.

Brianna said, waving her hand. “It’s okay, just head straight back to Seavale. With such a long flight, having to transit is so troublesome.”

But Clair insisted. “It’s over ten hours’ flight. You’ll be bored out of your mind if you fly alone. Besides, I need to stop by Klamdiff for some matter before heading back.”

Seeing the gentle look on Clair’s face, Brianna didn’t have the heart to refuse him, so she just let it be and didn’t argue further.

As they were chatting, an old lady came over and stood right next to their table. Brianna looked up, confused. She was honestly at a loss for words.

Jane just stared at Brianna, her face completely blank, saying nothing. Not wanting to cause a scene, Brianna pulled out a chair for her. “Grandma, you’re here too?” Brianna said.

Her face was as cold as ever, not even a hint of a smile. She plopped down in the chair, making herself comfortable. “Your aunt’s off wandering the gallery. My legs can’t handle all that walking, so I’m just waiting for her here,” she said bluntly.

Brianna muttered curses to herself, ‘Seriously? I can’t even get away from these weirdos when I’m out of the country? The world is just way too small.

Brianna stayed silent. An awkward silence hung in the air. Jane looked Clair up and down from the corner of her eye, then spoke in a sarcastic tone. “Who is he? Why are you out alone with a man? Don’t forget you’re a married woman.”

Jane shot Brianna a look, clearly annoyed. Brianna rolled her eyes, and Clair tried to explain politely, “I’m Brianna’s senior from college. We’re here for work.”

Jane leaned in even harder, not letting go. “For work? Just the two of you? A man and a woman traveling alone, what kind of ‘work’ is this supposed to be?” She sounded sarcastic, and Clair blushed, looking embarrassed.

Brianna wasn’t about to put up with it anymore. She shot back, her tone sharp. “Don’t get the wrong idea, Grandma. I’m not like Dad!”

Jane got totally shut down for a second. She rolled her eyes at Brianna and immediately started looking for something else to nitpick. “Where are your manners? Is that how you talk about your own father?” she snapped.

‘Don’t air dirty laundry in public, Brinna thought to herself. As she didn’t want to expose her family’s mess to Clair, she swallowed her retort and kept quiet. Seeing Brianna stay quiet, Jane got even more fired up.

“You’re nothing like Darcy; she cares so much about your dad. Just look at her! She’s the principal dancer now, a superstar. So impressive, unlike you,” Jane went on, gushing about Darcy.

Brianna ignored her. Clair could no longer take it and spoke up. “Brianna’s doing great. She’s now a famous jewelry designer. Just last year, she took home the top prize at a major jewelry competition, and even Tevanni wants to collaborate with her.” Clair said, pride in his voice.

Jane scoffed, her face full of disdain. “A designer? Is that even a proper job? Can you actually take a living doing that?”

Clair could tell this old lady was a real piece of work, and he lost all his earlier enthusiasm when replying to her. “Whether

dancing, acting or designing, at the end of the day, they’re all just jobs, he said, keeping his voice flat.

Seeing Clair stand up for Brianna Jane went after him again. “Hey, young man, you’re aware she’s married, aren’t you?” she said, her voice full of sarcasm.

Brianna was annoyed; her brows furrowed. “We’re on a work trip with dozens of people. Why are you concerned if he’s aware I’m married or not?” she shot back

“There’s really no need to be nice with this family. I might treat her as my grandma, but she might not treat me as her granddaughter, Brianna thought.

Brianna stood up. “Our colleagues are coming out now. Take your time waiting.” she said. With that, she headed out wi Clair. At the entrance, they ran into Reese. Brianna didn’t even look at her and just walked right past

Reese walked over to Jane and asked, “Did you see her?”

Jane let out a dismissive snort. “Hmph, just like her mother, she doesn’t give a damn to anyone,” she said, her tone dripping with cisdain.

Reese chimed in, “Yeah, back then she thought she was all that just because of Unity Group. Now that she’s married into the Levy family, she probably thinks we’re beneath her.”

Jane wasn’t convinced. “Even if she became a queen, she’s still a Meyers,” she snapped.

Reese said with a mocking tone, “But she doesn’t see herself that way, so what can we do?”

Jane slammed on the table, fuming. “With the way they carry themselves, no wonder Whitney has affairs. Good thing my son was clever enough to cover his own back. Without Darcy, you think Brianna would look after her dad when he’s old?” snapped.

Thinking of Darcy, Reese’s face lit up with a smile. “Yeah, thank goodness for Darcy.” But then her smile faded into worry.

“Mom, how did Brianna get so lucky, marrying into the Levy family? If only Darcy had married into the Levy family instead, with all that money and power, we wouldn’t still have to worry about making a living at our age.” Reese sighed and said.

Jane nodded, her face full of resentment.

Suddenly. Brianna swapped back to her senses. Darcy must be the one who sent this. Why would I delete the evidence of their affair?

“Yeah, the principal dancer, a celebrity, actually sent me her own nudes. Why would I delete them?” she thought.

Brianna felt vicious at this moment. She saved each photo, one by one. Then she switched on her laptop and opened the divorce agreement she had drafted. She changed the clause about leaving with nothing to an even split of the assets. Brandon, 1 let you keep your dignity, but you had picked someone with no shame. That’s on you,’ she thought to herself. After tidying up the agreement, Brianna logged into her social media app and typed in Darcy’s name That little vixen had been all over the place lately, Wallet shows, movie promos, variety programs; she was practically a star on the rise.

Brianna scrolled through the comments. She seemed to have quite a good reputation with the audience. Most of the

Brianna sneered as she read the comments. Pretty on the outside, rotten on the inside, she thought. As she kept scrolling, a wave of bitterness welled up inside her.

She had already decided to divorce him. But when she witnessed Brandon’s betrayal firsthand, her heart still throbbed with pain

The reporter som responded, asking if she could reveal the big shot’s identity. Brianna refused; she wanted to keep

When Brianna asked when he could drop the story, the reporter said to hang on a little longer.

Barry was busy these days, doing promo tours for her new movie. In the movie, she played an innocent, flawless young girl Wher had a sweet, dreamy romance with the male lead.

As Darcy and the male lead were deliberately hyping their on-screen pairing, the reporter planned to release these photos at the upcoming promo tour when they would make the real stir.

Brianna had given Brandon a chance for a clean break, but he refused and even let the mistress flaunt herself in front of her. There was no way she could bother about decency anymore.

Brianna thought of her mother Blanca was always provoking her mother, never missing a chance to stir up trouble. She had no idea how her mother survived all those years.

Brianna didn’t get a wink of sleep all night. The following day, the design team took off for Milavera. For two days straight, Briana’s mind was all over the place. She couldn’t shake off her troubles.

When the event was over, she sealed a partnership deal with Tevanni. Brianna and Clair hurried to the airport in Milavera. In the VIP lounge, while waiting for their flight, Clair shot Brianná a worried look. “What’s the matter with you the past few days?” Clair asked.

Brianna smiled faintly. I’m fine, just tired,” she replied.

Clair had wanted to say something, but stopped. After some time, he finally asked, “Is this related to your grandma and the others?

Brianna gasped deeply, managed a wry, helpless smile. “Not just that; there’s plenty of mess going on,” she said.

Brianna

The two of them chatted idly. Just then, Reese came over, helping Jane. Brianna was already in a foul mood. She didn’t even bother to pretend anymore and flat-out ignored them.

Jane stood right next to Brianna and cleared her throat. Clair quickly stood up to smooth things over. “It’s you! Please have a seat, he said.

Brianna didn’t budge, not even sparing them a glance. Seeing this, a wave of irritation surged in Jane. “No need. I can stand and say a few words to my granddaughter,” she said.

Brianna was mentally calculating the time, silently praying she wouldn’t have to take the same flight with these two Troublemakers. Seeing Brianna’s attitude, Clair gently helped Jane sit down, forcing a smile. “Take your time,” he said
