Chapter 76-

Chapter 76

Brandon and Brianna stepped out of the hotel. They got into the car, and the air turned icy between them once more. Brianna crossed her arms over her chest as if her guard was up. “Send me back to the Harper family,” she said.

Brandon’s face was icy, and a flicker of hurt flashed in his eyes. “Not going home?” he asked.

Brianna’s expression was just as grim. “No,” she replied.

Brandon’s sharp features were as cold and unforgiving as steel fresh out of ice. His jaw was set, tense. “Not going to see your daughter?” he asked.

Brianna didn’t hesitate before replying, “Maybe some other day.” Brandon fell silent. It was May, the sun blazing outside, but inside the car, the chill was like frost settling in the silence.

The car pulled up to the Harper family’s residence, but Brianna didn’t get out. She sat there, arms still crossed tightly over her chest. Her long lashes drooped, casting faint shadows across her face, so pale it looked almost translucent.

After what felt like forever, Brianna finally broke the silence. “Have you made up your mind about the divorce?” she asked quiet.y.

Brandon’s lips tightened into a cold, unforgiving line. His gaze churned like stormy waves, dark and restless. One slip, and she would be swallowed whole by his darkness.

“So you had me come pick you up today just for the divorce?” Brandon asked, his voice low and dangerous. Brianna’s eyes blazed with anger. She met his gaze with stubborn defiance. “Yes,” she replied, unwavering.

Brandon’s lips curled into a mocking smirk. “All because of Clair he asked.

Brianna’s eyes were dull with despair. Her lips lost all color; her voice trembled slightly. She wasn’t sure if it was anger or humiliation that made her voice shake. “Because of Darcy,” Brianna shot back,

Brianna thought she had made peace with everything. Yet the pain still lingered, refusing to let her go. She bit back the pain that threatened to spill over.

She pulled up her photo album and shoved her phone toward Brandon. “I never imagined my marriage would ever become so humiliating,” Brianna said.

“I also never imagined I’d end up repeating my mother’s mistakes, Brianna thought, but she couldn’t bring herself to say that

r out loud.

Tears welled up in her eyes against her will. She was terrified that if she said even one more word, she would reveal just how vulnerable she really was.

Brandon’s slender fingers clenched around the phone, his knuckles and joints straining so hard they looked ready to snap. Veins bulged along the cold, pale back of his hand. He looked like he might crush the phone right then and there.

His voice hit the air like shards of ice. “I’ll handle it. It won’t affect your status as Mrs. Levy,” Brandon said, his tone icy.

Brianna had rehearsed this moment in her head numerous times. She had pictured every way it could play out, and she thought he would sign the divorce papers as if it meant nothing to him.

Or maybe he would give her a mocking look and say, “So you finally found out, huh?” But she never imagined he would react this way.

ughert -disbelief, her anger laced with sarcasmi. “What does it even mean that it won’t affect my status as Mrs retorted, her voice dripping with irony.

His tone remained glacial: the pressure he gave off was suffocating. “Mrs. Levy, that title will always belong to you, Brandon said, his voice cold and unyielding.

Brianna’s lips twisted into a sarcastic smirk. Her voice rose, dripping with irony. “What about Darcy?” she asked.

Brandon’s glare was razor-sharp, cutting right through her. His voice was colder than a winter storm. “I won’t let her mess with you again.” Brandon said, his tone deadly serious.

Brianna gave a helpless, resigned smile. She shook her head, tears slipping downt her cheeks. “So, are you planning to be just like Whitney, keeping a mistress out there?” Brianna asked, her voice thick with sarcasm and pain.

Not giving Brandon a chance to answer, Brianna pressed on. “Her mother came between my parents’ marriage. And now

you…

She couldn’t bring herself to finish the sentence. She was so furious, the veins on her forehead popped. Her fingers shook so hard she could barely keep them steady.

“Brandon, where the hell did you get the idea I’d ever tolerate you having an affair? What makes you think I’d ever want your pathetic Mrs. Levy title?” Brianna shot back, her voice shaking with fury.

Brandon kept his face stone-cold. “I didn’t,” he said.

Brianna shook her head helplessly. Her throat tightened, making it hard to breathe. Her voice rose, sharp and accusing. “You didn’t do what? You didn’t cheat on me?

“Then what are these photos? Who’s the naked guy with Darcy in these photos?” Brianna asked, her voice sharp and accusing.

Brandon remained icy, his expression unyielding. His lips pressed into a hard, tight line. “Calm down first, then we’ll talk,” he said.

‘Here he goes again; his usual move. He drives me crazy, then tells me to calm down, Brianna thought to herself. How she wished he would argue with her for once. Perhaps then she could actually vent some of her rage.

Brianna took a deep breath, struggling to hold herself together. She fought hard to hold back the tears. She wanted nothing more than to rip off his hypocritical mask. “You make me sick!” Brianna spat, her voice shaking with disgust.

Brandon’s eyes burned with a violent hostility, so intense it felt almost solid in the air. His lips pressed into a dangerous,

r razor-sharp line. “I can explain,” Brandon said, his voice tight with tension.

Brianna felt like she was losing it. It was like screaming into a void. No matter what she did, nothing got through to him. She was done being slowly boiled alive in this mess. She snapped, screaming hysterically. “Why must it be Darcy? Why her?”

Seeing her lose control emotionally, Brandon shut down every trace of emotion, his expression turning stone-cold. He looked at her as if she were a total stranger.

He spoke with an air of superiority, distant and untouchable. “Just calm down and go home. I’ll tell you everything,” he said his tone icy and commanding.

Brianna looked up, and the light in her eyes finally shattered. At this point, talking more was pointless. She closed her eyes. took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, all that remained was a composed calm.

“I’ve redrafted the divorce agreement. I’ll send it over to you later. Let’s part ways peacefully,” Brianna said, her voice steady but cold. With that, Brianna stepped out of the car, leaving the door swinging shut behind her.
