Lydia POV
Honestly.
I didn’t even get the chance to explain anything.
One second I was standing there, looking at everybody’s faces, and the next thing I knew, the room started spinning.
Like, literally spinning.
“Wait…”
I grabbed the side of the door.
“Why am I feeling dizzy?”
Anna immediately looked at me.
“Lydia?”
“I’m fine.”
I was absolutely not fine.
My vision blurred for a second.
Then everything went black.
I fainted.
And apparently, that was enough to send everybody into another round of panic.
I vaguely heard someone calling my name before I completely lost consciousness.
When I came around again, I was being carried.
I opened my eyes slightly.
Dave.
And Theo.
Both of them were carrying me toward my room.
And honestly, if I had been fully conscious, I probably would have found the whole thing ridiculously funny.
Because these two men had probably spent the last week silently competing over who cared about me more, and now they were literally carrying me together.
“Put me down,” I murmured.
“You fainted,” Dave said.
“I know.”
“Then you’re not walking.”
“I’m capable of walking.”
“Not right now.”
Theo glanced at me.
“She’s stubborn.”
I looked at him.
“I remember you.”
He smiled.
“I know.”
That smile.
Yeah.
I remembered that too.
But before I could say anything else, they got me into my room and helped me onto the bed.
My head was still spinning.
Then the kids came running in.
And the second I saw them, something inside me completely softened.
“My babies.”
Ava immediately climbed onto the edge of the bed.
“Mom.”
Eli was right behind her.
“Mommy.”
I opened my arms.
“Come here.”
They both rushed into me.
And that was when I finally said it.
“I got you.”
They looked at me.
“I got my memory back.”
Their eyes widened.
“What?”
“I got it back.”
“All of it?”
“Most of it.”
Eli started crying immediately.
Ava’s eyes filled with tears too.
I pulled them closer.
“On the stroll with Anna.”
I glanced toward the doorway.
Anna was standing there, looking like she was waiting to be arrested.
I almost laughed.
“We almost had an accident.”
Everybody’s eyes immediately went to Anna.
And I knew exactly what they were thinking.
Absolutely not.
I wasn’t about to let them tear her apart.
“Don’t blame her.”
Dave frowned.
“You two are the reason for my existence.”
Then I sighed.
“And also the bane of my existence.”
Eli laughed through his tears.
“Mom!”
“I’m serious.”
“You said we’re the reason for your existence.”
“You are.”
“And bane.”
“Absolutely.”
Ava laughed.
I kissed both of them.
“Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For waiting for me.”
They looked at me.
“Thank you for not giving up on me.”
I wiped Eli’s tears.
“Thank you for being strong.”
Then I looked at Ava.
“And thank you for being my little fighter.”
She smiled.
“We’re both fighters.”
“Yes.”
I pulled them closer.
“My babies are fighters.”
And for the first time since waking up in that hospital, I felt like myself.
Not the woman everyone had been describing to me.
Not the woman in the photographs.
Not the successful PR woman with the beautiful house and the company and the life I couldn’t remember.
Just me.
Their mother.
And honestly, that was enough.
We stayed like that for a while.
Then, naturally, Eli remembered something.
“Mom.”
