Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 310

Dave POV

I was genuinely glad I had that conversation with Lydia.

Not because I had suddenly solved every problem that came with being back together, because obviously I hadn’t. We had barely started figuring out what being together again actually meant, and already there were a hundred little things we hadn’t discussed. How often I’d travel. How we’d manage the children. How we’d balance work and family. The list was probably longer than either of us wanted to admit.

But at least we were talking.

That mattered to me.

I loved that about us. Even with all the history between us, even with all the things we’d done wrong to each other, we were finally at a point where we could sit down and say, “This is bothering me,” or “I’m worried about this,” without turning it into a war.

Although, if I was being completely honest, I hadn’t been particularly pleased about the sleeping arrangement.

Not even a little.

I’d stood there the previous night listening to Lydia explain that she wanted me to spend only a couple of hours in her room before returning to mine, and every part of me had wanted to ask her if she was serious. After everything we’d been through, after finally getting her back, after spending so long wondering whether we’d ever have another chance, she was now giving me a two-hour visitation schedule.

Two hours.

Like I was some sort of appointment.

But then again, I understood her.

She was still recovering. Her life had been turned upside down. She’d gotten her memories back, reunited with her children, chosen me, and was now expected to suddenly know how to function inside a relationship that had once been one of the most complicated parts of her life.

If she needed space, I’d give her space.

Getting something was better than getting nothing.

At least, that was what I kept telling myself.

And besides, I knew Lydia.

The more uncomfortable she became, the more she tried to push me away.

Which, admittedly, I found amusing.

There was something almost adorable about the way she’d stiffen whenever I got too close, especially when she knew exactly what I was doing. She could handle a boardroom full of executives without blinking, negotiate million-dollar contracts like she was ordering coffee, and dismantle someone’s argument with three sentences.

But let me lean close and call her babe?

Suddenly, Lydia forgot how language worked.

I smiled to myself as I walked away from the kitchen, leaving her there.

She really didn’t know what she was doing to me.

Unfortunately, I had a board meeting.

And unlike Lydia, my board members were unlikely to accept “I was busy flirting with my girlfriend” as a valid excuse for being late.

By the time I entered my office, my phone was already buzzing with reminders.

Board meeting.

Quarterly expansion review.

Regional performance report.

Investment proposal.

I looked at the schedule and sighed.

Romance would have to wait.

Business came first.

For the next few hours, I was completely buried in numbers.

The meeting started with our financial performance for the quarter, followed by a review of the branches we had opened and the ones we were considering opening next. My CFO walked everyone through the figures while the rest of us studied the reports projected on the screen.

“The East Asian division has exceeded the initial growth projection by fourteen percent,” he said, clicking to the next slide. “The new branch is already performing above expectation, particularly in the first-time customer acquisition segment.”

I leaned back in my chair, studying the figures.

“How much of that growth is organic?”

He looked toward the analyst beside him before answering.
