Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 311

Dave POV

Anna:

I have your proposal list.

I stopped walking.

I read it again.

Then I smiled.

Of course she did.

I opened the message.

There were several attachments.

Then another message appeared.

Anna:

Before you say anything, YES, I know you said you wanted it private. Everything on this list is either private, discreet, or can be customized to be private.

Another message.

Anna:

And don’t worry. I did not tell Lydia.

I smiled.

Then another.

Anna:

Okay. Open the list.

I opened the attachment.

Anna had apparently gone into full event-planner mode.

There were categories.

Actual categories.

PROPOSAL LOCATION

DECOR

PRIVATE DINNER

PHOTOGRAPHY

MUSIC

FLORALS

RING

BACKUP PLAN

TRANSPORTATION

CHILDREN

I stared at the screen.

“Children?”

Another message came in.

Anna:

Don’t ask why I included the children. You know they will somehow find a way to be involved.

She was right.

I continued scrolling.

The first section contained three location options.

The first was a private waterfront space with a secluded sitting area and a clear view of the water.

Anna had written:

Option 1 — Waterfront private setup

Best for: intimate, emotional proposal.

Guest count: 2.

Setup: private table, candles, low floral arrangement, soft lighting, discreet photographer.

Estimated setup time: 2–3 hours.

Pros: beautiful without being excessive. Lydia would not feel like she’s attending an event.

Cons: weather.

I smiled at that last sentence.

Anna knew Lydia well enough to know she would hate anything that felt like a public spectacle.

I scrolled.

Option 2 — Private garden terrace

Private access. Sunset setup. Dinner can be served outdoors. Can be completely cleared before arrival.

Then:

Option 3 — Minimalist evening walk + private dinner

I stopped.

That was the one we’d talked about.

No massive venue.

No audience.

No ridiculous decorations.

Just Lydia.

Me.

A quiet evening.

Something that actually felt like us.

Anna had even included a note.

This is still my favorite. Don’t overthink it.

I laughed quietly.

Then I continued.

The next section was décor.

Apparently, Anna had spoken to three vendors.

One offered candles, soft warm lighting, neutral florals, and a small dining setup.

Another offered a more elaborate floral arrangement.

Anna’s recommendation was highlighted.

Keep it simple. Lydia doesn’t need a P*******t board attacking her.

I laughed again.

She wasn’t wrong.

Lydia would probably walk into an overly decorated space and immediately ask who died.

The dinner section was even more detailed.

There were private chefs, menus, pricing, dietary considerations, dessert options, wine and non-alcoholic options, and a list of foods Lydia supposedly liked.

I stared at that section for a moment.

Then I realized Anna had apparently interviewed me without me knowing.

I sent her a message.

Dave:

How do you know half of this?

Her reply came almost instantly.

Anna:

I am a woman. I observe things.

I shook my head.

Then came photography.

She had found a photographer who specialized in discreet proposals and another who apparently could hide nearby and capture everything without making the whole thing feel staged.

That mattered to me.

I didn’t want Lydia to know she was being photographed.

I wanted the moment to belong to us.

Not to a camera.

Not to social media.

Not to anyone else.

Then there was music.

Anna had listed three options.

A live acoustic guitarist.

A violinist.

Or simply a curated playlist.

I immediately leaned toward the playlist.

Something about having a stranger standing nearby playing music while I proposed to Lydia felt like too much.

The whole point was intimacy.

I didn’t want her looking around wondering who else was watching.

Then I reached the section that made me stop.

RING.

Anna had apparently included three jewellers.

There were notes about turnaround times, customization, sizing, and whether they offered discreet delivery.

I stared at the list for a long moment.

The ring.

That was the one part I couldn’t delegate.

I had to choose that myself.

I didn’t want something simply because it was expensive or impressive.

I wanted something Lydia would actually wear.

Something elegant.

Something that felt like her.

Simple, but impossible to overlook.

I made a mental note to deal with that separately.

Then I got to the final section.

BACKUP PLAN.

I actually laughed.

Anna had written:

Because you two have enough history to qualify as a natural disaster, we need one.

Underneath it were alternatives for rain, scheduling problems, vendor cancellations, traffic, and even what to do if Lydia somehow suspected something.

I stared at the last one.

If Lydia suspects:

Abort unnecessary theatrics. Stay calm. She is smarter than both of us.

I shook my head.

“She’s definitely going to kill me.”

My phone rang.

Anna.

I answered.

“You’ve done a lot.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I haven’t even said thank you.”

“You were going to.”

“I was.”

“I know.”

I sat down on one of the chairs in my office.

“Okay. Walk me through it.”

That was all she needed.

For the next hour, Anna and I planned.

Not casually.

Properly.

She opened her laptop and started comparing vendors while I went through the options on my phone.

We ruled out the larger venues immediately.

Too much.

Too public.

Too much room for Lydia to feel like she was being presented with something rather than invited into something.

We agreed on the quieter location.

Then we discussed timing.

“Tomorrow?” Anna asked.
