Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 321

Lydia pov

Anna clapped her hands together, practically vibrating with excitement. “That’s the energy, babesss! I love it. Jttt, so let me run you through what we need to plan.”

I narrowed my eyes at her through the screen. “Wait. What if I never agreed?”

“Then I’d have to play my last card to make you agree.”

I raised an eyebrow. “Huh. Which is?”

“It’s a little secret.”

I stared at her. “So we have secrets between each other now?”

“Yes, if it’s about that. I’m not allowing you to play the victim.”

“Anna, you’re beginning to sound like a threat.”

“And you’re beginning to sound like a bride who needs to be managed. Now, back to business.”

She adjusted herself in her seat, looking like she was about to present a proposal to a board of directors rather than help plan a wedding. If she had a pointer and a projector, I wouldn’t have been surprised.

“There are a few things that will be our main focus,” she announced. “Event decor, food, guest list, hairstyling, dress, cake, drinks, photography, and videography.”

I hummed.

She paused, staring at me expectantly. “Sooo, which one do you feel like we should start with?”

“Anna, why do you think I’m free today, ehnn?”

“Because you love me.”

“That is not a valid reason.”

“It’s the only reason you need.”

I rolled my eyes, but I was smiling. Unfortunately, my best friend had known me for too long to be intimidated by any of my attempts at resistance. She could probably write a whole book about my various facial expressions and their meanings. The woman had studied me like a research project and, judging by her current behaviour, had published several papers.

“Hmm,” I said, pretending to consider the list. “But let’s start with the guest list.”

Anna sat up straighter. “Obviously. I knew it!”

“Yes, yes. Please, calm down.”

“Calm down? Lydia, do you know how important the guest list is? It determines the venue size, the seating arrangement, the catering budget, the number of tables, the quantity of souvenirs—”

“Anna.”

“—and even the general atmosphere of the wedding. You cannot invite two hundred people and then decide you want an intimate garden wedding. Well, you can, but then you’ll be paying for a garden the size of a small country.”

I laughed. “I haven’t even told you what I want yet.”

“Which is why I’m asking. First question: how many guests are we looking at?”

I hesitated.

Anna immediately narrowed her eyes. “Lydia.”

“What?”

“That pause. I know that pause. You don’t have an answer.”

“I have an answer.”

“Then give it to me.”

“I haven’t thought about it.”

She leaned back and looked at the ceiling as though she were asking God for patience.

“And I am beginning to understand why people charge for wedding planning.”

I laughed again, settling more comfortably against my pillows. My headache was still lingering somewhere behind my eyes, but the conversation was distracting enough that I could almost forget about it. Almost.

“Look,” I began, “I know I want something intimate. A garden-themed wedding, maybe. Something beautiful, with lots of flowers and greenery, soft lights, and an open space. Nothing too extravagant or overwhelming. Or maybe not necessarily a garden wedding, but something really intimate. I haven’t figured out all the details yet.”
