Lydia POV
I wanted greenery and flowers, but not an overwhelming amount of either. I wanted natural light, warm lighting in the evening, simple table settings, and a layout that allowed people to talk to one another without having to lean around enormous centrepieces. I wanted a garden if we could find the right venue, and I wanted the decorations to complement it. If we eventually chose an indoor space, I wanted the same feeling of warmth and intimacy to carry through.
Most of all, I wanted something that felt like us.
I could picture the day without having to force myself into the picture.
That settled it.
I selected the second vendor’s page and copied the link into my message to Anna.
Event decor: Vendor Two.
I added a few of my favourite reference pictures and a short note explaining that I preferred their garden setups, natural greenery, soft lighting, and intimate table arrangements. I also made a mental note that we would need to discuss their packages, available venues, guest capacity, and what they could do if the weather decided to ruin our plans. A garden wedding was lovely in theory, but I had no intention of having my wedding guests drenched because I was too in love with the flowers to ask about a rain contingency.
I leaned back against the pillows and looked at the pictures I’d saved.
For the first time since Anna had sent the list, I felt genuinely excited about the planning.
Not because I had suddenly become the sort of woman who enjoyed making a hundred decisions about chair covers, floral arrangements, and table settings. I suspected I would always find some of those things unnecessarily exhausting.
But this was my wedding.
Mine and Dave’s.
And somewhere between the flowers, the candles, and the soft green of the garden, I had found a small glimpse of what I wanted it to look like.
Now, if only the other vendors were going to be this easy to choose. Almost immediately after the message landed in Anna’s inbox, my phone began vibrated.
I stared at her name on the screen and laughed before replying. Did this woman even know how to give a person breathing space?
“Hello, my darling bride!” she typed.
