[Globe International]
The conference room was already filled with board members and major shareholders.
Quiet conversations echoed throughout the room as everyone waited for the meeting to begin.
Seated among them was Gavin.
Unlike the others, he appeared completely relaxed. Leaning back in his chair, he calmly observed the room, listening as the executives exchanged their opinions about the scandal surrounding Xander and Ivy.
A faint smile slowly tugged at the corner of his lips.
Everything was unfolding exactly as he had anticipated.
"Mr. Gavin," one of the senior investors, Mr. Hayes, called as he leaned slightly closer. "Do you think President Xander will actually attend today’s meeting?"
Gavin met his gaze before giving a composed smile.
"He’ll come."
His answer was calm and confident.
"He knows avoiding the board would only create more speculation."
Mr. Hayes nodded in agreement.
"That’s true."
Ever since Gavin decided to expose Xander’s relationship with Ivy to the public, he had known there was no way the news could be completely contained.
The media had already picked up the story.
Social media discussions were growing by the minute.
Even Globe International’s reputation had begun to suffer.
Suppressing the scandal now would only make people more suspicious.
For years, Gavin had been searching for an opportunity to weaken Xander’s influence within the company.
He had quietly built relationships with several shareholders and board members, hoping to create enough support to challenge his cousin one day.
Unfortunately for him, none of his previous efforts had achieved much.
Xander’s leadership had consistently delivered strong results, leaving little room for anyone to question his position.
No matter what obstacles Gavin tried to create behind the scenes, Xander always managed to resolve them before they became real problems.
But this time was different.
This wasn’t about business performance.
It was about public image.
And public opinion could influence even the strongest company.
The moment news of Xander and Ivy’s past relationship spread across the internet, Gavin immediately contacted several board members and major investors.
He presented the situation as a growing risk to Globe International’s reputation.
Naturally, many of them became concerned.
No investor wanted to watch the value of their shares decline because of a scandal involving the company’s president.
That concern was exactly what Gavin intended to exploit.
As long as enough people believed Xander’s personal life was becoming a liability to the company, pressure would continue to build against him.
Mr. Hayes glanced around the room before lowering his voice.
"Do you think the board will demand an official explanation?"
"They should," Gavin replied evenly. "Whether President Xander chooses to answer is another matter."
"And if he refuses?"
Gavin’s smile deepened almost imperceptibly.
"Then people will assume he has something to hide."
The room gradually fell silent as more board members took their seats.
Everyone understood that today’s meeting was no ordinary discussion.
It had the potential to influence not only Globe International’s public image but also the balance of power within the company itself.
Gavin folded his hands on the conference table, his expression calm.
For years, Xander had stood at the top, seemingly untouchable.
Every challenge thrown at him had ended in failure.
But Gavin refused to believe anyone could remain invincible forever.
Even the strongest fortress developed cracks.
All he had to do...was keep applying pressure until one finally gave way.
The conference room doors suddenly opened.
Every conversation came to an abrupt halt.
Xander walked in first, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, his expression calm and unreadable. Taylor followed half a step behind him, carrying a tablet and several documents.
The imposing aura surrounding Xander instantly silenced the room.
Despite the scandal dominating every news outlet since yesterday, there wasn’t the slightest trace of anxiety on his face.
It was as though the person at the center of the controversy wasn’t him.
Without sparing anyone a glance, he walked straight to the head of the conference table.
Taylor pulled out the chair for him.
Xander took his seat gracefully, placed both hands on the table, and swept his gaze across everyone present.
"Let’s begin."
His deep, composed voice broke the silence.
The board members exchanged uncertain glances before Mr. Hayes cleared his throat.
His fingers rested lightly on the conference table, his expression giving away nothing.
Finally, he looked around the room.
"So..."
His voice was steady.
"You’ve called an emergency board meeting..."
"...to discuss my personal relationship."
No one answered.
The silence itself was an admission.
Xander’s sharp gaze eventually settled on Gavin.
"I assume this meeting was your idea."
Gavin didn’t deny it.
"I simply believe transparency is important—for the company and its shareholders."
His tone was polite, almost sincere.
"We all have a responsibility to protect Globe International."
Taylor couldn’t help but let out a quiet scoff.
Everyone in the room knew Gavin wasn’t acting out of concern for the company.
He was using the scandal to challenge Xander’s authority.
Xander, however, remained completely unfazed.
A faint smile appeared on his lips.
"I agree."
The unexpected answer caused several board members to blink in surprise.
Even Gavin’s smile stiffened for a fraction of a second.
Xander slowly leaned back in his chair.
"Transparency is important."
His eyes swept across every director in the room before stopping on Gavin once more.
"Since all of you are so interested in my personal life..."
"...I’ll answer every question."
The room instantly became silent again.
No one had expected Xander to agree so readily.
Least of all Gavin.
