Chapter 354 You Go

Matthew asked. “You’re not joining me?”

Just go yourself,” Zachary said.

Matthew didn’t push his luck. “Okay,”

Zachary found a movie to watch, and once Matthew finished showering, he pulled him over to sit and watch it together.

“Aren’t you putting it on?” Matthew asked.

“After Jaden falls asleep,” Zachary said.

A sudden, ridiculous urge hit Matthew, the thought of just knocking the cub out cold for the night. He figured since the kid was his own cub, he could control his strength well enough that Jaden would just wake up the next morning feeling a little fuzzy and nothing more.

In the end, though, he didn’t dare say a word of that out loud to Zachary.

The second the little one finally drifted off, Matthew slipped the noise canceling headphones onto him without missing a beat, then locked the bedroom door with a key, smooth and practiced like he’d done it his whole life.

“Just this once,” Zachary said, sitting cross legged on the floor as he slowly opened the shopping bag. Then he just froze completely.

He pulled out a pair of thigh high socks with bows at the top, along with an assortment of bracelets, necklaces, and headbands of every size imaginable/

“Why is there so much stuff in here?”

Matthew was already buzzing with excitement. “Free gifts.”

Zachary felt a flush of embarrassment creep up his neck. He had Matthew turn around, then started pulling each piece on one by one, his face and ears turning a deeper shade of red with every passing second.

After a long while, the quietest possible voice finally broke the silence. “Okay… done.”

Matthew turned around, and his entire body locked up on the spot.

The black and pink cat ears sat atop Zachary’s head, trimmed with a ring of white lace, soft and fluffy enough to pass for the real thing.

A black ribbon collar circled his neck with a small gold bell hanging from it, playful and impossibly cute. The neckline dipped low enough to reveal the pale curve of his collarbones, with crossed straps cinched together by a bow.

The waist pulled in tight, studded with little pearls, and since the dress was cut for a woman, the puffy skirt sat far too short on him, leaving his long, slender legs on full display. The thigh high socks squeezed into

the soft give et his thighs, and a white bow sat pinned to the side of one.

Zachary stood there feeling utterly exposed, pressing the hem of the skirt down with both hands, his eyes fixed on the floor. “This this is way too weird.”

“Take a good look…”

That same familiar shade of crimson flooded Matthew’s face. He stared at his mate like he’d been struck dumb, blood already trickling from his nose and down the corner of his mouth, and he leaned in closer without seeming to register any of it.

“Hey!” Zachary scrambled for tissues and pressed them frantically against Matthew’s face. “You’re going to make yourself pass out from blood loss!”

Matthew snapped back to himself, hurried into the bathroom, and came back out clean in record time. Before Zachary even had a chance to open his mouth, Matthew had already tackled him onto the couch, gripping his ankle and yanking it backward, sending the hem of the skirt riding all the way up.

The movie kept playing on the television, but the room had picked up a few extra sounds of its own.

Zachary completely lost track of everything after that. By the time he opened his eyes again, he was alone in the bed.

His head spun, and his breath came out warm against his own face. He shifted slightly and felt the deep ache settle into every muscle, his throat raw and scratchy too.

He glanced down at himself. Pajamas, the modest, fully covered kind. He let out a small breath of relief and slowly pushed himself up to sit against the headboard.

The door clicked open, and Matthew walked in, his hair still damp.

Zachary’s voice came out hoarse. “Why’s your hair wet this early?”

“Took Jaden for a run,” Matthew said, walking over to the bed. He looked at Zachary’s flushed face and pressed a hand to his forehead, then immediately tensed up. “You’re running a fever!”

“Oh, it’s nothing.” Zachary brushed it off easily. This was the modern world, after all. A cold and a fever were nothing a packet of medicine couldn’t handle. “I’m hungry though. Is there any food?”

Matthew’s brow furrowed deep with worry. “We should find a shaman to look at you.”

“I’ll just take some medicine in a bit. That’ll do it.”

After the previous night’s exertion, and now running a fever on top of it, Zachary’s legs gave out the moment he tried to stand, and his whole body swayed unsteadily.

Matthew caught him in an instant and lifted him up, carrying him out of the room.

As they passed the balcony, Zachary spotted the clothes Matthew had washed earlier, still dripping wet on

Matthew glanced down at him, “Are you feeling really bad?”
