Trapped by Seven Mafia Wolves novel Chapter 28

**Chapter 28: Cracks Let Light In**

**Aurora’s POV**

The mug rests on my desk, a curious relic of my existence—perhaps a trophy from a battle fought, or maybe a cautionary emblem of what could have been.

Or simply a testament to the fact that I was here, that I mattered, even if just for a fleeting moment.

I lift it gingerly, cradling it in my hands, feeling the uneven edges where it had once shattered. The surface is still rough in places, a reminder of its fragility.

Yet, someone deemed it worthy of repair.

Leon believed I was worth saving.

But deep down, I know my worth is questionable. I am disposable, a mere object to be discarded when broken. Isn’t that the common wisdom? Don’t bother with what’s damaged, just toss it aside.

Yet here I am, holding onto this mug that should have splintered into a thousand pieces—and it remains intact. Much like me.

I cast a glance toward the door.

The silence enveloping the room feels… different from just an hour ago. It’s not the suffocating kind that wraps around you like a vise, whispering dark thoughts of isolation.

No, this is a serene quietness. I find it oddly comforting.

I crawl back into bed, the mug still nestled in my hands. It’s empty, but I find solace in its presence. I press it against my chest, feeling the rhythmic thump of my heartbeat, slow and steady.

Then, a knock on the door jolts me, making my heart race.

It’s an instinctive reaction, an old habit that resurfaces.

My fingers tighten around the mug, holding it as if it were a lifeline.

“Yeah?” My voice emerges, small and trembling.

The door creaks open, just a crack.

Leon’s head appears, tousled hair framing his face, his eyes betraying a lack of sleep. There’s a faint bruise on his cheek—most likely a souvenir from a confrontation with Luka.

For a moment, we share a silence that feels heavy yet comfortable. Then his gaze lands on the mug, and a smirk dances across his lips.

“You still aiming for my face?” he quips, the familiar teasing lilt in his voice.

I shake my head, clutching the cup tighter to my chest. “No.”
