Trapped by Seven Mafia Wolves novel Chapter 53

**Chapter 53**

**Back**

**Aurora’s POV**

The abrupt sound of the front door crashing open jolts me from a deep slumber, sending my heart racing like a wild stallion in my chest.

I shoot upright in bed, my legs hopelessly ensnared in the tangled mess of my blanket, the fabric twisting around me like a cocoon. That noise—it’s unmistakable. It’s not the usual creaks and groans of the house settling; it’s something far more substantial, something familiar that sends a thrill of recognition through me.

Without a moment’s hesitation, I leap from the bed, disregarding the coolness of the floor beneath my bare feet as I dash down the hallway. The thud of my footsteps reverberates against the wooden floorboards, and I barely manage to steady myself on the last step, my hair a chaotic halo framing my face.

And then I see them. Raphael and Andrei. They stand just inside the doorway, bags slung over their shoulders, looking as if they’ve just returned from a grueling expedition. Their clothes are rumpled, and the exhaustion etched into their faces speaks volumes about the long day they’ve endured.

In that moment, I don’t think twice. I launch myself at them, my arms wrapping around Raphael first, squeezing him tightly as if he were a lifeline. The warmth radiating from his body is a comfort I’ve longed for. “I missed you too, sorellina,” he chuckles, his voice slightly hoarse yet filled with affection. “Easy now, or you’ll topple me over!”

“I’m not letting go just yet,” I murmur, my voice muffled against his shoulder, feeling the weight of my worries lift just a little.

Next, I turn to Andrei, who barely has time to set his bag down before I’m enveloping him in my embrace. I bury my face into the comforting fabric of his shirt, inhaling the familiar scent that feels like home. His arm encircles me, and with his other hand, he playfully ruffles my hair, a gesture that brings a smile to my lips.

“You okay?” he asks softly, his voice a soothing balm against the remnants of my sleep.

I nod against him, feeling the warmth of his presence seep into my skin, chasing away the lingering shadows of my dreams.

Andrei pulls back slightly, his gaze piercing through the haze of sleep that still clings to me. There’s a seriousness in his expression that feels out of place given how groggy I still am. “Now that we’re back,” he begins, his tone shifting to something more earnest, “we need to talk about something important.”

A flutter of anxiety twists in my stomach, a familiar sensation that I can’t quite shake.

“You’re going to start school again,” he says gently, as if the words could somehow soften the impact.

My eyes widen, disbelief washing over me like a cold wave. “Oh.” The reality of it sinks in, and my heart sinks with it. “Ew.”

He facepalms dramatically, his expression a mix of embarrassment and amusement. “Shoot. Sorry, sis, I’m just used to hanging out with boys.”

“But… shop for what?” I ask, genuinely puzzled.

“School stuff. And maybe a hoodie that actually fits you,” he replies with a grin that lights up his face.

I glance down at my oversized hoodie, a piece of clothing that feels like a warm hug, one I’ve grown attached to. “Hey, I like this one.”

He shrugs nonchalantly, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. “Fine. But you’ve got to get pencils and notebooks. And, more importantly, snacks. Lots of snacks. You’ve got weird taste, but I’m making you try hot Cheetos.”

A soft laugh escapes my lips, light and genuine. It’s a sound I’ve missed, a reminder of the joy that can exist in the simplest moments. He grabs my shoulders, guiding me out the door with a sense of purpose. As we walk toward the garage, I realize this is the first time in a long while that the future doesn’t seem so daunting with someone by my side, someone who makes me feel like I belong.

In the wake of Raphael and Andrei’s return, Aurora finds herself enveloped in a whirlwind of emotions that shift from anxiety to a budding sense of hope. Their presence rekindles a warmth within her, a reminder that she is not alone in facing the uncertainties of her life. The announcement of her return to school, initially met with trepidation, transforms into an opportunity for growth and new beginnings. As she grapples with the weight of her past experiences, the supportive words of her family echo in her mind, allowing her to consider the possibility that this time, things might be different. With a tentative agreement to try school again, Aurora takes a brave step forward, buoyed by the love and encouragement surrounding her.

As she prepares for a shopping trip with Jace, a sense of lightness begins to wash over her. The mundane task of picking out school supplies morphs into a shared adventure, a moment of camaraderie that she has longed for. Jace’s playful banter and insistence on snacks remind her of the simple joys that come with family and connection. Walking side by side, Aurora realizes that the future, once shrouded in fear, is now illuminated by the promise of friendship and acceptance. With each step, she embraces the notion that she is not just stepping back into a classroom, but stepping into a new chapter of her life—one filled with laughter, support, and the courage to face whatever comes next.
