Trapped by Seven Mafia Wolves novel Chapter 76

**A Lighter Step**

**Aurora’s POV**

As I exit the office, a folded piece of paper cradled in my palm, I sense something else nestled deep within my chest.

It’s not quite joy, not yet, but it’s certainly more uplifting than dread. Softer than the gnawing grip of fear. Perhaps it’s hope, a flicker of light piercing through the shadows of uncertainty.

For the first time in what feels like ages, my feet no longer feel like heavy anchors, dragging me down with every step. Instead, my sneakers emit a soft squeak against the polished tiles as I navigate the familiar hallway, making my way back to the sanctuary of my room—the part of this house that truly belongs to me.

A small bounce begins to emerge in my stride, as if I’ve momentarily forgotten the immense weight the world often bears down upon my shoulders. I clutch the paper a little tighter, not because it holds any extraordinary significance, but because this fleeting moment feels precious, like a fragile treasure I want to protect.

The hallway leading to my room is enveloped in a serene stillness. Outside, the sun begins its descent, casting golden streaks that paint the corridor with a gentle warmth. The air carries a faint scent of laundry detergent mixed with something sweet—likely the remnants of whatever Leon has been pilfering from the kitchen again. With a soft creak, I push open the door to my room and step inside.

The space remains unchanged, a familiar haven. The same bed, the same dresser, the same corners that oscillate between feeling like a safe retreat and a strange confinement. Yet somehow, in this moment, it doesn’t feel like a cage at all.
