**Aurora’s POV**
The hospital room envelops me in a shroud of dimness, the air thick with an unsettling stillness. A gentle glow seeps through the blinds, casting delicate stripes of light that dance across the blanket draped over my weary body. My ribs throb with a relentless ache, as if someone has taken a hammer to them, shattering them like fragile glass. My throat feels parched, a desert of discomfort, and my hands tremble involuntarily, despite my efforts to mask the anxiety bubbling beneath the surface.
Yet, within this muted space, there exists a sense of safety. Raphael remains steadfast by the window, his figure a silent guardian. He’s engrossed in a book, though the same page has remained unturned for what feels like an eternity. Each time I shift my position or inhale too sharply, his gaze flicks up, concern etched across his features, as if he can sense the pain that occasionally breaches the silence.
The others, my friends, had come and gone earlier, each leaving behind a fragment of warmth. Jace’s smile had been a soft balm, a reminder of better days. Andrei’s gentle kiss on my hair was a fleeting comfort, while Leon enveloped me in a tight hug that spoke volumes of his worry. Matteo, though quiet, offered me solace with the warmth of his hand as it enveloped mine before he slipped away, leaving me with the echo of his presence.
They promised they would return.
Yet, the quiet feels like a weight pressing down on my chest.
What gnaws at me more, however, is the realization that Nico and Luka never came at all. A wave of sadness washes over me, and I feel the sting of tears pooling in my eyes as I glance at the IV drip in my arm. Not once did they check on me. Not once did they even think to come.
**3rd Person’s POV**
The marble floors of the hospital echo with Luka’s sharp, restless footsteps. He paces back and forth like a wild animal trapped in a cage, his sneakers squeaking against the polished surface, frustration radiating from him with every movement. Nico, on the other hand, is sprawled on the couch, a permanent scowl etched into his features, arms crossed defiantly over his chest, his eyes darkened by boredom and disdain.
“This is so fucking ridiculous,” Luka bursts out, his voice laced with anger. “No keys, no phones—it’s like we’re stuck in some childish nightmare.”
Nico snaps back, his tone biting. “He didn’t even bother to inform us there wouldn’t be a driver. I had to walk home. Just walk!”
They remain oblivious to Leon, who stands just outside the room, half-hidden in the hallway, leaning against the wall with a water bottle cradled in his hand. He listens intently, the bitterness and venom in their voices grating against his skin like sandpaper.
“You really think this is just going to blow over?” Luka mutters, his frustration palpable. “No chance. Andrei’s acting like we committed war crimes.”
“He’s treating her like she’s some kind of saint,” Nico growls, his disdain evident. “As if she hasn’t been dragging this family down since day one.”
Leon steps into the room, his entrance quiet yet commanding. “She almost died.”
Both Luka and Nico look up at him, startled. Matteo, who has just arrived from the entrance alongside Jace, freezes mid-step, his jaw tightening in response to Leon’s words. Leon’s gaze narrows, a storm brewing behind his eyes. “She’s in the hospital.”
