Trapped by Seven Mafia Wolves novel Chapter 97

**Stars Refuse To Blink by Asa River Knox**
**Chapter 97: First Interrogation**

The warehouse looms, a cavernous shell of coldness, its shadows stretching like dark fingers across the concrete floor. The air is thick with an unsettling silence, broken only by the echoing sound of heavy boots dragging something—or perhaps someone—across the unforgiving surface.

With a grunt, the man crumples to the ground, his body hitting the floor with a dull thud. His arms are tightly bound behind him, and his ankles are shackled, rendering him helpless. Anger bubbles within him as he curses under his breath, thrashing against his restraints. But his efforts are futile; he is yanked upright and unceremoniously forced into a chair. The metallic scrape of chains fills the air as one of the brothers’ men secures him, the sound harsh and unforgiving.

The guard, broad and stone-faced, gives a single nod to Andrei, a silent acknowledgment of a job completed.

“È fatto, capo.”
(“It’s done, boss.”)

Andrei inclines his head slightly, his expression betraying nothing. “Grazie.”
(“Thank you.”)

The guard salutes sharply and melts back into the shadows, leaving the man in the chair to stew in his own bloodied thoughts. He spits crimson onto the concrete floor, a defiant act of rebellion. “Real warm welcome, boys. Didn’t your mother raise you better than that?” His voice drips with sarcasm, but the room remains eerily quiet. No laughter follows his taunt.

Jace stands with his arms crossed, his gaze inscrutable, a wall of stoicism. Leon leans against the wall, but his fingers twitch restlessly, a clear indication of his desire to unleash violence. Matteo, however, stands directly in front of the man, close enough to inflict serious harm if he so chooses.

Andrei remains a silent observer, a loaded gun poised and waiting for the right moment to strike.

“You know why you’re here,” Matteo states flatly, his voice devoid of any warmth.

“I’ve got a guess,” the man replies, a smirk playing on his lips, though he knows the gravity of the situation.

“You were a guard. Assigned to our mother.”

“So?” he retorts, his bravado flickering like a candle in a storm.

“So you helped her disappear,” Leon interjects sharply, his patience wearing thin. “Don’t waste our time.”

The man shrugs, feigning indifference. “I followed orders. Swore loyalty. You know how it works.” His tone is dismissive, as if the weight of their accusations means little to him.

“You swore loyalty to our family,” Matteo hisses, his voice low and dangerous. “And you helped her erase one of us.”

“Do you mean the girl?” The man chuckles, tilting his head as if entertained. “Didn’t think she made it. Guess I underestimated her.”

Before he can register the shift in the atmosphere, Leon strikes first. A clean, brutal punch lands squarely on the man’s face, splitting his lip open. The man grunts, a laugh escaping his lips despite the blood oozing from the wound. “Is that all you got?” he taunts, his bravado still intact.

“You’re not here to banter,” Jace says coldly, his voice slicing through the tension. “You’re here to confess.”

“I don’t know where she went after the escape,” the man spits out defiantly. “All I know is what I did. I signed the certificate. Another guard helped get her out. That’s it.”

“Who was it?” Matteo steps closer, his voice low, vibrating with barely contained rage. “Name.”

The man clenches his jaw, a defiant glint in his eyes as he spits on Matteo’s shoes. Matteo raises an eyebrow, his glare sharp enough to cut through steel.
