Trash Husband, I'm the Top novel Chapter 408

The rest of the story was, frankly, rather predictable.

After Aurora and Louis spent the night together, Louis—always a man of principle—decided to take responsibility. He proposed marriage.

But when he went back to the Winters estate, he was detained there, breaking his promise to Aurora. Despite everything, Aurora chose to keep the child.

Later, Payne was born, and then tragedy struck: the flower shop went up in flames.

That night, Aurora arrived at the flower shop in the middle of the night because someone had threatened her, forcing her to steal a journal.

On her way out of the hospital, she saw Louis. Knowing he’d protect the baby, she made a choice—she would save Nora instead.

She felt she owed Nora a debt she could never repay, so she paid for it with her life.

Judy was silent for a long time.

Eventually, she spoke softly. “And Aurora…?”

“She died in the fire. Long ago.”

Even now, Nora could still remember the moment Aurora pushed her out of harm’s way, whispering a quiet apology.

But to Nora, Aurora had nothing to apologize for.

After all, compared to saving her life, nothing else mattered.

“I’m sorry,” Judy murmured, shaken by the cruelty of it all.

Nora looked out the window, her tone steady. “It doesn’t matter who Louis loves. Aurora gave him a child. That’s enough.”

Judy fell silent.

And in that moment, she finally let go.

It was clear Nora no longer wished to dwell on the past. Louis had no intention of divorcing his wife to pursue Nora, either.

The rest was just Judy’s own anxiety.

“Thank you,” Judy said quietly. “I’d like to bring Payne home for a while. Grandma and the others miss him.”

“Payne’s last name is Quinn. That’s what I agreed with them—he won’t go back to the Winters family.”

Judy didn’t argue.

She left.
