Brenda spoke up with confidence. “That’s right. Our brand has a solid reputation, and our products pretty much sell themselves. If we put everything else aside, I still think we’ve got a real shot at this.”
Madeline nodded. “Yeah, Ms. Mullins and I already talked it over. For now, Scent Trace really needs to work on getting our name out there. So, we’re thinking about bringing on Tansy, the hottest actress right now, as our brand ambassador.”
“Tansy? She just won Best Actress. She’d be perfect, but Ms. Monroe, I’ve heard Fortner Group is also eyeing her for their campaign,” someone pointed out.
Brenda smiled a little. “We know. I’ll handle everything with Tansy. But about the endorsement fee…” She glanced at Madeline.
Everyone knew how expensive a top actress could be.
“Don’t worry about it. Just go ahead and negotiate. I’ll figure out the rest,” Madeline said.
“Alright.”
They moved on to a few more points, and when the meeting finally ended, Madeline took her phone off silent. She saw a bunch of missed calls, all from Helene.
Madeline just smirked. She had zero interest in dealing with Helene right now.
She stayed busy until the workday ended, then picked up Oliver and headed home. As soon as she walked in, Helene called again. This time, Madeline picked up.
“Madeline, why haven’t you been answering my calls?”
“Do I have to answer every call from you?”
Madeline set the phone down, poured herself some water, took a slow sip, and asked, “What do you want?”
“I want to make a deal with you. It’s about your son. Interested?”
A deal? About Noah?
Madeline only needed a second to realize Helene was up to no good.
“I’m at the coffee shop next to Grayson Enterprises. Come over and let’s talk.”
Without waiting for a response, Helene hung up.
Madeline held her phone tightly, frowning.
At the café, Helene stirred her coffee slowly, watching as Madeline sat across from her. “Want something to drink?”
What kind of life was Noah living with the Graysons?
When she finished, her hands shook as she clenched the photos, then threw them at Helene.
Helene jumped and let out a shriek. “Madeline, are you out of your mind?”
“Where do you get the nerve to show me these? Don’t tell me you had nothing to do with it.”
Madeline stared her down, her eyes so cold Helene actually flinched.
Helene looked at the photos scattered on the floor and bit her lip hard. “This isn’t my fault. I told you, Julian can’t stand your kid. Every punishment Noah got came straight from him. No one else would dare touch him.”
Madeline let out a cold laugh. “You really think I’m that gullible?”
She knew exactly what kind of person Helene was.
Nothing to do with her? Please. If anyone wanted to hurt her child, it was Helene.
Helene clenched her fists. “I’m serious. I can’t stand seeing that boy suffer either. If you divorce Julian, I’ll help you and your son be together again.”
