Madeline just stared, silent.
What a bastard!
In the end, Julian dragged her back to his villa.
…
Oliver watched everything unfold on the hospital’s security cameras. His little fists tightened at his sides. How could that awful man treat his mom like that? He would make him pay.
Back at the villa, Julian’s strength easily overpowered Madeline’s. Her hands were tied, leaving her completely helpless.
He hardly cared about her comfort, dumping her onto the floor without a second thought. At least the carpet was thick enough to keep her from getting hurt.
Julian stood over her, looking down at the stubborn girl who refused to back down.
“Julian, what do you even want from me?” Madeline glared up at him. “If you think I’ll help you with your illness, forget it.”
He crouched in front of her, his hand wrapping around her chin, his voice cold and mocking. “Relax. I’m not stupid enough to trust my life to a woman who wants me dead. I brought you back because you haven’t finished paying for what you’ve done. You don’t deserve to be out there living your best life.”
Before he finished, an elegantly dressed lady stepped into the room.
Helene had heard Julian brought a girl home. She guessed immediately who it was. Even though she’d tried to prepare herself, her heart still skipped when she saw Madeline’s face.
“Julian.” Helene’s voice was gentle as she walked over and slipped her arm through his. Then she turned to Madeline, putting on her most shocked expression and covering her mouth. “Ms. Monroe… I thought you were dead. How are you…?”
Madeline watched the two of them, feeling her blood start to boil. One of them was fake, the other a fool. They were perfect for each other.
All these years, the one thing Madeline could never figure out was who really caused Helene to lose her child, and why she got blamed for it.
Outside, Oliver kept peeking through the window. When he saw Madeline tied up on the floor, his anger shot through the roof.
He hurried back to his room with his laptop, fired off a message to Noah, and started typing furiously. Five minutes later, a sly smile appeared as he hit enter.
Suddenly, the whole villa went dark.
Everyone in the room looked up in surprise. Helene squealed in fear and rushed into Julian’s arms. “Julian, what’s going on? Did the power go out?”
