The security guards spotted the manager nearby and waited for his signal.
Helene and Raine could barely contain their excitement, already picturing Madeline getting embarrassed in front of everyone.
But Madeline wasn’t fazed at all. She stayed calm, quietly confident that a manager running such a big hotel wouldn’t just toss out a guest for no reason.
The manager didn’t say a word. The guards stayed put.
The commotion caught the attention of people walking by in the hallway. Curious, they slowed down and peeked inside to see what was going on.
“What’s everyone crowding around for?” Josh asked as he followed Julian, sneaking a glance at the scene.
Julian, who was walking ahead, didn’t spare it a glance. He just headed straight for his private suite, looking completely uninterested.
Josh watched Julian disappear down the hall. Not in any rush, he wandered over, stood on his toes, and peered into the room, taking advantage of his height.
“Oh, wow!”
Madeline and Helene?
Looked like things were about to get messy…
Josh glanced at Julian’s back, a mischievous grin on his face. He hurried to catch up.
“Julian, wanna know what’s going on back there?”
“Not interested,” Julian answered, voice cold.
“Then want to guess who’s inside?”
Julian turned, raising an eyebrow. “You really have nothing better to do?”
Josh smirked, his eyes dancing with amusement. “You seriously don’t want to know?”
Julian stepped into his suite, his tone flat. “Just tell me.”
As soon as Julian walked in, everyone at the table stood up to greet him respectfully. Julian’s face didn’t budge from its usual blank expression.
Josh lingered at his side, half smiling. “Looks like your ex-wife and your fiancée are about to go at it.”
Julian’s brow furrowed as he shot Josh a cold look.
Josh let out a low laugh. “Don’t you want to check it out? I don’t know what happened, but it sure looks like your girl is in trouble. She might even get thrown out of the hotel tonight. I gotta say, she could really use a hero right about now.”
The person she hated most was Julian.
Thinking about it, Julian let out a cold laugh.
Him, fall for that crazy woman? Only if he’d lost his mind, too.
Julian stopped responding. He went straight to the empty seat at the head of the table, eyes so dark and cold they could freeze someone in place.
Josh, never one to let things go, kept laughing. He tugged Miles into the joke with him. “He’s totally losing his cool.”
Julian’s frosty glare swept across the table, and Josh and Miles snapped to attention like guilty schoolkids.
Josh slid into an empty chair and poured himself some red wine. When he looked up, he realized everyone else at the table was sitting stiffly, like they were waiting for a storm to hit. Meanwhile, Josh, the troublemaker, tried to hide his grin behind his wineglass. First sip… and he nearly choked.
He coughed, clearing his throat.
Yeah, the room definitely felt colder now.
…
Not long after, a server hurried in with the info they’d found. “Manager, the guest who reserved this suite is named Mira.”
