Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 20

Helene’s face stiffened, her expression turning sour. “Isn’t that… Ms. Monroe? She just ran off last night, Julian…”

Julian shot Madeline a cold glance, his tone flat. “She won’t get away.”

Helene flashed Madeline a mocking, scornful smile.

Julian looked to the side, searching. “Where’s Noah?”

“He just went to the restroom… Look, he’s coming back now.”

A small figure walked back to Julian, led by a bodyguard. The little boy had a cool, unreadable face.

Julian glanced at Noah, then at Madeline, his gaze as indifferent as ever.

Noah spotted Madeline too. For a second, his big eyes lit up.

It was his mom.

Noah blinked, remembering the phone call with Oliver before he came back to the city. Oliver had told him their mom would be here too. So seeing her now didn’t surprise him.

He glanced at his dad and the woman beside him, his tiny fists clenching. He was determined to protect his mom, no matter what, and he wouldn’t let them hurt her.

“Let’s go,” Julian said, his voice cold.

Noah looked away and followed him.

Madeline’s cold, steady mask slipped.

She had just seen Julian holding a child’s hand. They were far, but she caught a quick glimpse before someone blocked her view. When she looked again, they were already gone.

But in that one second, Madeline had seen the child’s face.

Oliver?

Her heart lurched. Panic swept through her.

But Oliver was supposed to be in Country Y.

Madeline’s mind raced. She hurried forward, desperate to see more.

Brenda, alarmed by her sudden movement, grabbed her arm and held on tight, her face full of worry.

“Madeline, what’s going on?”

“I saw Oliver. He’s with Julian.”

He had a phone watch and usually answered right away.

But this time, the call just rang and rang.

She tried again. Still nothing.

Madeline felt her panic rising. If Julian had taken Oliver, she would fight him with everything she had.

“Any luck? Still no answer?” Brenda was anxious too.

Madeline shook her head.

Brenda squeezed her hand. “Don’t worry. If Julian really took Oliver, we’ll call the police.”

Madeline handed her luggage to Brenda. “Call them for me.”

“Where are you going?”

“Oliver means everything to me. I’m not letting Julian take him.” Madeline’s eyes filled with determination as she rushed in the direction Julian had gone.

Brenda was frantic. She grabbed her phone and called the police. “Hello, I need to report a kidnapping. Someone just took my friend’s child…”
