Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 202

“Shameless,” Noah blurted out from the side.

Even a kid could tell how full of himself Drew was. Where did he find the nerve to say stuff like that? Did he really think she was that gullible?

Drew must have caught a bit of what was said, because his tone got even more intense. “Who’s there? Who just said that? Madeline, was someone talking just now?”

Madeline didn’t bother answering. She just said calmly, “Don’t forget to close your window tonight before you go to bed.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“I’m just worried a big gust of wind might blow you right out of your dreams.”

Drew bristled, his anger flaring up. “Do you have to fight me on everything?”

“We’ve always been on different sides, Drew. This is nothing new.”

He let out a frustrated snort, and Madeline could practically hear his teeth grinding. “Fine. Since you’re so stubborn, I’ll leave the entire Monroe fortune to Raine. You won’t get a single penny.”

Madeline gave a cold little sneer and hung up.

Everything from the Monroe family would be hers, eventually. She was determined to take it all back.

Brenda rolled her eyes and shook her head, completely speechless. The Monroe family really was something else.

She honestly couldn’t figure out how a guy as nasty as Drew could have a daughter like Madeline. People always said daughters took after their dads, but these two didn’t even look like they belonged in the same family.

“How do you even deal with a family this strange?”

“You get used to it,” Madeline replied.

Brenda pouted. Madeline was so patient. If it were her, she’d probably lose it, never mind if people chewed her out. She’d have to punch him just to get a good night’s sleep.

“It’s already so late. Don’t go back tonight. Just stay here.”

Brenda perked up immediately. “I was hoping you’d say that.”

Madeline laughed. “I knew you were waiting for it.”

“I’m gonna take a shower!” Brenda hopped off the couch.

“Go ahead. The pajamas are in the closet, take whichever you like.”

“But what?”

Drew rubbed his chin, frowning. Maybe he’d imagined things. “I thought I heard a kid’s voice just now.”

“A kid?” Raine pursed her lips, then suddenly covered her mouth like she just realized something. “Dad, do you think… could Madeline have a child?”

The next morning, Madeline arrived at her company. Just as she expected, Drew was waiting for her as soon as she walked in.

Her expression turned frosty. Now that they knew about her business, she’d been fully expecting this kind of trouble. She’d already steeled herself for it.

“Madeline, what’s the meaning of this? Are you trying to cut us off completely? You want nothing to do with the Monroe family?”

Madeline’s lips curled into a cold, mocking smile. “What’s left to cut? Didn’t we lose our ties a long time ago?”

Drew’s hands clenched into fists as he fought to keep his cool. If there weren’t so many people around, he might just slap her.

“Fine. If you’re so set on leaving the Monroe family, I won’t stop you. Just transfer this company to me. Then you can go do whatever you want. Otherwise…”
