Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 204

“Mom, she’s so unreasonable. I was scared out of my mind at that time. I barely had time for her. How could she blame me for that?”

Courtney let out a long sigh and tapped Helene on the forehead.

“You really don’t get it, do you? Even Madeline knew enough to help out and win some points. If you just act respectful around her, she’ll come around. You’re marrying her son. She isn’t going to hold a grudge forever.”

“Really?”

“Of course. Helene, you’re not married to Julian yet, so just put up with things for now. Once you’re officially part of the Grayson family, then you can play the game however you want.”

A sly smile spread across Helene’s face as she leaned into Courtney’s arms, her eyes sparkling with ambition. “Got it, Mom. I know what to do.”

Once she married Julian, she’d make everyone who ever looked down on her regret it.

Tonight was Julian’s treatment night. Madeline didn't want to leave Noah home alone, so she dropped him off at Brenda’s before heading over to the Grayson house.

The Grayson staff and security all recognized her by now, so nobody stopped her. She walked right in, and the moment she stepped inside, a little body came running and wrapped around her legs. The boy hugged her tightly, grinning from ear to ear. “Mommy!”

Madeline’s heart melted. She crouched down, cupping his soft cheeks in her hands. “Did you miss me?”

He nodded hard, cheeks puffing up. “I ask to go to your house all the time, but stinky Daddy never wants to take me lately. Hmph.”

Madeline felt a cold sweat break out on her back. Thank goodness Julian wasn’t here. If he showed up, he’d see Noah right away, and she didn’t even want to imagine how that would go down.

After a moment, Madeline leaned in and whispered something in Oliver’s ear.

“Really?” Oliver’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “So when can I meet Noah?”

Madeline thought about it. “When we get a good chance…”

“What secret are you two sharing?”

Julian’s voice came from the stairs. He stood there, looking like he’d just stepped out of the shower, his hair damp and messy. He wore a plain white t-shirt and light gray lounge pants, looking totally relaxed.

But even dressed down, he still had that unmistakable aura of someone you didn’t mess with.

Madeline jumped at the sight of him. She and Oliver both straightened up instantly, like two kids getting caught sneaking cookies.

Julian snorted. “You think I don’t know what you’re up to? You’re just using this as an excuse to visit your son. Maybe you’re hoping for a chance to sneak him out.”

Madeline grumbled in her head, Wow, you caught on fast. Aren’t you clever.

Julian sat down on the sofa, his voice cool. “Don’t even think about stealing him. Unless I’m dead, it’s never going to happen.”

Madeline strolled over, smiling sweetly. “Relax, I’d never steal my own son. I’ll leave him here with you. Then when you die, he’ll inherit everything, I’ll be a billionaire, and I’ll find myself a few hot young guys. Your spirit can watch us spend all your money.”

That should drive you crazy.

Julian’s mouth twisted, his lips pressed into a thin, cold line.

She even wants to find pretty boys.

Suddenly, the whole living room went quiet. Madeline felt a cold shiver run across her face.

She glanced at Julian, who looked like he wanted to strangle her right then and there.
