Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 208

Julian’s eyes were icy and sharp. “I don’t want to know.”

Raine’s words got stuck in her throat, her face twisting with frustration.

Brenda let out a snort, half-laughing, clearly amused. She had wanted to stir the pot, but Julian didn’t even care enough to listen.

Raine balled her hands into fists. “Mr. Grayson, you really don’t care if Madeline secretly had a kid?”

Madeline’s heart skipped a beat. Her hands clenched so tightly it hurt.

Brenda’s face changed in a flash. “Raine, what are you talking about?”

“Why are you so nervous?” Raine said, raising her voice. “Mr. Grayson, she had a kid abroad with someone else, and that kid is right here in this room.”

Julian’s brow drew tight, his eyes dark and impossible to read.

Madeline looked up at him, her heart pounding in her chest.

“Is it true?” Julian asked, his gaze heavy on her.

“No, it’s not,” Madeline answered, meeting his eyes head-on. “I have no idea why she’s suddenly making things up, accusing me out of nowhere of having someone else’s child.”

“Making things up? Last night, when you were on the phone with Dad, we heard a child’s voice in the background,” Raine shot back.

“Oh really? I didn’t hear anything, but you both did? That’s impressive,” Madeline replied, her tone cold as ice.

Raine wasn’t surprised Madeline denied it. She didn’t care. The kid was here somewhere and it was just a matter of finding him.

“If there’s no kid, then why won’t you let us into your room?” Raine demanded.

Madeline’s eyes grew even colder. “This is my house, my room. Why would I let you all just walk in whenever you feel like it? Who exactly do you think you are? Royalty?”

Raine let out a bitter laugh. “So, you’re just scared. You’re afraid to let us look.”

“Raine told me she was at Ms. Monroe’s, and I had something to talk to Ms. Monroe about, so I came over,” Helene said, glancing around the room as if she had no idea what was going on. “What’s up? Did something happen?”

Madeline’s face was full of sarcasm. “What is this place, a hotel or a café? People just walk in without even knocking.”

Helene just smiled. “The door was open, so I came in.”

“So if you see someone’s door open, you just walk right in?” Madeline shot back.

“Of course not. I just thought you and I were friends, so it was fine,” Helene replied.

“Friends? Sorry, I don’t know you,” Madeline said, her voice icy and flat.

Embarrassment flickered across Helene’s face. “Sorry. I shouldn’t have…”

“Then why are you still standing here?” Madeline asked, her tone leaving no room for argument.
