Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 231

A sly smile tugged at the corner of Helene’s mouth. “What’s Ms. Monroe doing at a hotel so late instead of going home?”

“I have no clue. She didn’t say,” Raine replied, pretending she didn’t care.

Helene could barely hide her satisfaction.

She hadn’t found Madeline’s child, but the rest of her scheme was falling perfectly into place.

Tonight, Madeline didn’t stand a chance.

“Julian, do you think something could’ve happened to Ms. Monroe at that hotel this late?” Helene asked, her tone almost innocent.

Julian stayed silent, his expression cold and unreadable. There was no trace of warmth in his eyes.

Just then, Miles called. “Sir, Ms. Monroe’s phone is pinging at the Royal Hotel.”

“Dad.” Noah stepped forward, worry written all over his face. “Mommy must be in trouble. She never goes to hotels, and she’d never ignore her phone if something wasn’t wrong.”

Helene’s eyes flickered as she added, “Maybe Ms. Monroe’s just busy with something.”

Her words dripped with suggestion. A girl at a hotel this late, ignoring her phone... What could she possibly be doing?

Helene watched Julian, making sure he caught every hint.

Julian turned to Noah. “Stay here. I’ll come back for you as soon as I find her.”

“Okay.” Noah nodded quickly. “Please hurry, Dad.”

There was no time to waste.

Julian spun around and hurried out. Helene rushed to follow, eager not to miss any of the drama.

Meanwhile, up in the hotel room...

Raine stood over the unconscious woman and let a smug grin slip through. “Let’s see how you get out of this one, Madeline.”

The door creaked open and a handful of sketchy-looking guys swaggered in. They took a good look around, clearly impressed by the fancy room. Then their eyes landed on the woman sprawled across the bed, and immediately they moved in, eager and leering.

Raine gave them a look full of contempt, her expression growing even colder.

Madeline sat up, eyes steady and cold, her whole vibe deadly calm.

The other three guys froze, stunned by what just happened.

Raine spun around and saw Madeline, fully awake now, calmly stretching her arms and fixing her gaze straight at her.

Raine’s chest tightened with panic.

“Madeline, how...?” Raine narrowed her eyes. “You weren’t drugged?”

Madeline smoothed the wrinkles out of her clothes and said coolly, “I was just playing along.”

“You!” Raine stumbled back, then tried to recover with a sneer. “Right, I almost forgot. You went to med school.”

“So what if you weren’t knocked out? You really think you can get away tonight? What are you guys waiting for? Get her!” Raine barked at the remaining thugs. “Whoever takes her down gets another fifty grand.”

The men still didn’t get how serious this was. With Raine’s new offer and Madeline right there, greed flashed in their eyes. They charged at her, not even hesitating.
