Twin Cupids at Work: Daddy, Come Home! novel Chapter 270

That didn’t make sense. She was a great swimmer. So what was she doing?

Julian shoved Helene aside, shot to his feet, and dove straight into the water.

“Julian!” Helene screamed behind him.

She could only watch, helpless, as Julian plunged into the pool and swam hard toward where Madeline had gone under.

Another splash sounded nearby. Someone else jumped in.

Two men disappeared beneath the surface, searching frantically for her.

The deep end of this pool was no joke, and Madeline had fallen right into it.

Madeline had no idea how many times she swallowed water. She felt herself sinking, getting heavier, her strength slipping away.

Suddenly, an arm caught her hand. Someone pulled her close, an arm wrapping tight around her waist, lifting her up toward the light.

Madeline’s mind was foggy. She couldn’t tell who was holding her, who was saving her.

“Don’t touch her.” Casey’s eyes burned with fury. He looked like he might tear the world apart. Forcing out those three words was the last bit of control he had left.

Julian didn’t even seem to hear him. He scooped the barely conscious Madeline into his arms and carried her out of the water.

Casey didn’t try to stop him.

Madeline was barely alive. Only an idiot would fight over her right now.

Julian’s usually dark, impenetrable eyes were filled with panic as he looked down at her, her eyes shut, her breath barely there. Fear twisted his face.

How could this happen?

Why did it happen like this?

Madeline could swim. She could handle herself in the ocean without breaking a sweat. Why had she nearly drowned in a pool?
