Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 29

Madeline didn’t even bother to look.

Helene was just showing off, as usual.

Brenda smirked, turning the invitation over in her hands. “Wow, even the invitations are fancy.”

Helene’s lips curled up, proud of herself.

Brenda raised an eyebrow. “Such a lovely invitation. It’d be a shame if it ended up in the trash.”

Without missing a beat, Brenda dropped the invitation straight into the garbage can. She pulled out a wet wipe and cleaned her hands, making a face like she’d just touched something disgusting.

Madeline arched a brow and smiled, amused.

Helene’s expression soured. Her eyes turned icy, and she glared at them.

Raine stormed over, grabbed the invitation out of the trash, and slammed it down in front of Madeline. “What’s wrong with you? Helene invited you out of kindness, and this is how you act? Seriously, have some manners.”

Brenda looked over at Madeline. “Do you smell that?”

Madeline blinked. “Smell what?”

Brenda fanned the air with her hand, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Something reeks.”

Raine’s jaw clenched. “Brenda, you—”

Brenda rolled her eyes. “What? I’m not allowed to say something stinks if it does?” She glanced at the invitation again. “Oh, the event’s at Serene Hotel? That must be a really big deal.”

Raine glared at Brenda. “What’s your problem?”

Brenda shrugged, her voice cool. “No problem. I just think it’s wild how some women steal someone else’s husband and then act like it’s a badge of honor. Throwing this huge party, trying to make sure everyone knows what they did.”

Their voices started drawing attention from people nearby.

Madeline reached for Brenda’s arm, trying to keep things from getting any messier. “Brenda, let’s just go…”

But Brenda shook her off and raised her voice. “I just don’t get how she will do anything to wreck you marriage. Does she actually think that makes her special or impressive?”

Brenda stood, making sure everyone in the restaurant could hear her. “Does anyone want to know how she really became the future Mrs. Grayson?”
