Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 339

Helene couldn’t take her eyes off Julian, even though her whole body was shaking harder with every passing second.

Julian glanced her way, his dark eyes unreadable, before turning to Lucy. “Mom.”

Lucy’s tone was sharp. “Helene’s still hurt. Why would you bring her to the Grayson house right now?”

Julian’s answer was like ice. “To settle things.”

The chill in his voice made Helene flinch. She tried to keep her composure, forcing a small, uneasy smile. “Julian, what’s going on?”

He didn’t respond.

There was a sudden commotion outside. Someone was shouting, panic obvious in their voice. “Why did you bring me here? Let go of me! Let me go!”

Helene’s hands tightened on her knees. She glanced nervously around the room. Suddenly, she locked eyes with Madeline.

Helene gritted her teeth and quickly looked away, focusing on the doorway. Two bodyguards appeared, dragging Raine inside.

Helene’s heart dropped. She knew immediately. They’d found out about Raine.

She stared Raine down, sending a clear warning with just her eyes.

Raine, struggling against the men holding her, spotted Helene. She looked like she wanted to call out for help, but the threat in Helene’s gaze made her snap her mouth shut.

Helene took a shaky breath, smoothing her hair and looking away.

The bodyguards dumped Raine on the floor. She lifted her head slowly, her eyes wide with fear as she looked up at the people on the couch. Her voice trembled. “Mr. Grayson… why did you bring me here?”

Lucy looked just as confused. “Julian, what is this about?”

Madeline’s voice was even colder than Julian’s. “That’s right. It’s not true.”

As soon as she heard Madeline say that, Raine crawled toward her, desperate. “Madeline, please, you believe me, right? I didn’t do it, there’s been some kind of mistake. I swear I didn’t even know you had another child.”

Madeline didn’t even blink. She looked down at Raine, her eyes icy and empty. “I know you’re not smart enough to pull off something this complicated. So tell me. Who was really behind it?”

The question made Raine freeze. Without thinking, she looked straight at Helene, who was sitting next to Lucy.

Helene felt her heart jump to her throat. She didn’t even have time to react before Lucy spoke up, her voice hot with anger. “Why are you looking at me? Are you saying I put you up to this?”

Madeline’s response was curt. “Mrs. Grayson, she wasn’t looking at you. She was looking at Helene.”

Everyone turned to stare at Helene.
