"Two hundred million?" Cody stared at him, stunned.
Kylian just shook his head, a sly smile playing on his lips. "No."
Cody's fists tightened. His jaw clenched. "Two billion?"
This time, Kylian nodded.
"Are you insane?"
Cody's eyes went wide in disbelief. He glared at the man sitting across from him, the man who was so shamelessly jacking up the price, and for a second, he nearly lost it. He wanted nothing more than to leap over the table and hit him.
Kylian knew exactly what he was doing. If Casey had come knocking, desperate for these herbs, it meant something serious was at stake. That was why he could name such a ridiculous price and not even blink.
"Whoever has you running around like this must mean a lot to you. Two billion for one life. The only thing that matters is if that person is worth that much to you."
Kylian's smile grew, wicked and taunting, as his eyes locked on Casey. He was having the time of his life, watching the infamous Casey forced to beg.
He couldn't help but wonder who was important enough to make Casey desperate.
Casey looked over, his eyes dark and unreadable, calm as still water. "Alright."
He agreed, just like that, barely even pausing.
Kylian's grin faltered. "You're serious?"
Anyone could hear he was practically robbing Casey.
And yet Casey just agreed.
He didn't even hesitate.
Kylian almost thought he'd misheard.
"You sure about this? Not two hundred million. Two billion."
Casey had already turned to Cody. "Get the money."
Cody stood there, frozen. Two billion wasn't just a big number. Casey wasn't some businessman. , He’d earned every cent he hadover the years by risking his life, leading his friends through hell and back. If he handed it all over, he'd have nothing left.
It was everything Casey owned.
Cody felt his chest tighten. He stepped forward. "Boss..."
Casey's eyes were dark and steady.
He knew Madeline couldn't wait.
Not even for a moment.
There wasn't the slightest bit of hesitation on his face.
"Go. Get it ready."
"What? Lost your nerve? If you can't do it, the deal's off. No herbs for you..."
A sudden, loud thud cut him off.
A knife slammed into the solid wood table, quivering.
Kylian jerked back, startled, watching Casey with a spark of fear.
Casey shot him a cold, mocking smile, then laid his hand flat on the table.
In the next second, he grabbed the knife, brought it down, and with a single, ruthless motion, sliced off the tip of his pinky finger.
Blood spattered across the table, bright and shocking.
Casey's dark eyes locked on Kylian, not even blinking.
For the first time, fear flickered across Kylian's face.
Maniac.
Casey was a maniac. No doubt about it.
Sweat beaded on Casey’s forehead, his voice low and ragged. "Are we done here?"
Kylian looked at the man in front of him, then at the severed fingertip on the table. He didn't dare push any further. He just nodded, dazed and silent.
