Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 469

"Where are you going?" Julian walked out with long, determined strides. Christian called after him, clearly annoyed, but Julian ignored him and just kept moving.

Miles shot a worried glance at the old man, afraid the whole mess might make him faint. Then he hurried to catch up with Julian.

"Sir," Miles called out as he reached him.

Julian stepped into the elevator. "Talk."

Miles hesitated, working out how to say what was on his mind. "I’m not sure Ms. Fortner was lying this time."

Julian turned, his eyes cold. "You think Madeline did it?"

"That’s not what I mean," Miles said quickly. "It just doesn’t make sense for Ms. Fortner to lie now. She knows Mrs. Grayson's condition, and as soon as Mrs. Grayson wakes up, any lie would fall apart."

Julian frowned, thinking it over. Helene did stupid things sometimes, but she wasn’t dumb enough to lie in front of everyone when she knew Lucy would wake up and give her away. Unless Helene actually saw something.

"And sir," Miles went on, "the team just reported in. When they found Mrs. Grayson, Ms. Fortner had already been knocked out. And the knife that hurt Mrs. Grayson has got Ms. Monroe’s fingerprints all over it."

Julian’s jaw tightened. His eyes narrowed, and a deep crease formed between his brows. After a few seconds, he finally spoke. "She had no reason to do that. When I called her, she was trying to help. The fingerprints must’ve ended up there while she was trying to save them."

Miles looked even more confused now. If Helene wasn’t lying and Madeline didn’t do it, then who did? Who actually hurt Mrs. Grayson?

Madeline frowned, piecing things together in her mind. When Lucy saw her, her face was all wrong... she looked terrified. But why? Madeline was there to help. Lucy should have been relieved, maybe even desperate for help. Instead, she tried to get away, pushing Madeline off like she was dangerous. That was pure instinct, the way people react when they’re scared for their lives.

Madeline went over everything again. Hurting Lucy, making Lucy afraid, knocking Helene out. The pieces all started coming together.

Suddenly, she remembered the video Julian had shown her. That woman who looked just like her, framing her, making her taking the blame for hurting Helene’s child. Could this be the same thing? Maybe someone who looked exactly like her hurt Lucy. That would explain why Lucy was so terrified when she saw her.

Madeline’s eyes lit up with understanding. That had to be it. It all made sense now. Someone had kidnapped her, locked her up, and now everyone outside probably thought she was the attacker.

But why? Was it just to frame her? Or was there something else going on? Madeline couldn’t figure out what they really wanted. For now, she was stuck with nothing but questions.
